Shopkeepers offered discounts—most of the time, items were free. Shinobi, genin or not, straightened their backs when he passed, inspired by the effortless confidence and humble nature that radiated from him.
He always smiled. He remembered names. Always stopped to help someone carry groceries. Always apologized if he minutely inconvenienced someone.
To the village, Namikaze Minato was proof that heroes existed.

“This.” Sarutobi stared back at Minato with crinkled eyes. “Is your father, Namikaze Minato.”
Minato, like any sane person who was not two seconds away from bursting into tears at the amount of emotions he was feeling, simply kneeled to Naruto’s level and smiled softly at him “…Hi, Naruto. I’ve been dying to see you,” he said with a nervous chuckle.

Summary
