    God, he’s done for.

That smile which he met just under ten hours ago, stood right infront of him. He’s dawning a blue zip up, cargo pants.

Those hands that pinned him down just eight hours ago hung onto either side of his stethoscope that was slung around his neck.

The lips that nibbled on the inside of his thigh, upturned, in the same smile that greeted him across the smoky bar.

“Fuck.” Dennis had to force down the bile. He mumbles under his breath, enough to catch a sly eye from Trinity.

“Hello. I’m Dr. Michael Robinavitch. I’m the new chief attending.”

    Great.

or in which Dennis’ one night stand from Dr. Al-Hashimis going away party just so happens to be his new boss at the PTMC.

“You are an interesting young man, Dennis,” Robby says, smiling like he himself isn’t quite sure yet if he means it as a compliment or as an insult.
    “You can just say weird.”
    “That too.”

or: Dennis and Robby meet at a bar before Dennis’s first day at PTMC. They talk, they flirt, and Dennis eventually finds himself in Robby’s bed.
They are in for quite the surprise the next day.

    Summary

The Allies are advancing through war-torn Europe. Private First Class Dennis Whitaker moves with Fox Company, carrying the wounded and the weight of those he cannot save. Amid the chaos of war, he finds himself drawn to Captain Michael “Robby” Rabinavitch, a battalion surgeon whose quiet steadiness begins to feel like something more than comfort. What grows between them is unspoken, fragile, and dangerous. Under the watchful eyes of Lieutenant McKay, Sergeant Langdon, Dana Evans, and his closest friend, Gabriel Santos, Dennis must navigate the brutality of war while struggling to hold on to his humanity. As his faith begins to falter, he is forced to confront what it means to be honest with himself, and with this connection, he can no longer ignore. Can love survive the war, or will it become another casualty?

    “Pathology being a dick?”

    “No, American Airlines.”

    “Huh?”

“I’m looking at tickets,” Dennis explains. Tries to keep his voice neutral. It seems like he fails, judging by the way Santos twitches and gets up on her elbows to glower at him. “For Christmas.”

“You going back to Broken Dick Nebraska?”

“Broken Bow,” Dennis corrects, more to be contrarian than because he actually thinks Santos misspoke. And maybe with some misguided sense of home town pride. “And yeah. I am.”
