“I don’t know,” Izuku finally choked out, his finger automatically moving to draw swirly designs on the top of his right foot. As soon as he’d gotten the words out, a fat drop of water darkened a circle on his white sock. Oh good, he was already crying. “I just always thought I’d be something… more.”
“Something more?” Shouto prompted.
“I just – I thought having this quirk would make me a great hero. But instead, I’m here, in this dingy fucking apartment, stagnated at eighty-fucking-seventh for the last five years.”
Despite being All Might's successor, Izuku's career as a Pro Hero doesn't exactly go the way he imagined it. After the latest Rankings come out, all his feelings bubble to the surface.

Because even if he knew that he lacked a certain feeling others had, it was difficult to come to terms with not getting to feel it, ever.

Summary

Izuku Midoriya, to the class, he was the sweet, shy boy who blushed at any passing compliment. To Shōta Aizawa, he was the number one problem child. As much as he tried to deny it, Izuku was Shōta's problem child. What happens when a grumpy teacher is thrust into a new role as his problem child asks for his help? Chaos. That's what his new found son brought to his life. Pure, unfiltered chaos, but he wouldn't change it for the world as Shōta never thought that he would have a son; any child that happened upon him was usually either afraid of him or annoyed him to no end but not Izuku Midoriya, his number one problem child is now his son.

None of the national, standardized tests were supposed to happen this month and even being two minutes late to one of those wouldn’t elicit this sort of reaction. They were discussing their career interest forms today, but that was it. Nothing time-critical was supposed to be happening.
“Midoriya, you were reported missing a week ago. No one has seen you for eight days. The police have been combing the city for you.”
"I’m sorry. What?”
Midoriya Izuku went missing for a week and turned up in a back alleyway with skills he's never even heard of and no memory of how he came by them. He resigns himself to never learning the truth of what happened to him, but he shouldn't waste this chance should he? He could become a hero with reflexes like these.
