Akaashi Keiji is a med student starting an internship as he finishes up his last classes of actual lecture at university.
On his first day a cancer patient around his age that's about to turn his world view upside down.
With no one else in the hospital able to keep your impulses, pranks, and mischief under control, Akaashi finds himself roped onto the oncology team and spending a lot of time around you.
Soon after, he discovers all of the ways life becomes complicated when one gets too attached to patient with cancer.
He also discovers... that maybe it's worth it to let life get a little messy.
(Possible triggers: mentions of cancer, depression, death, panic attacks, jealousy, and a lot of angst. But all with a happy ending!)

“ – what do you mean, you can’t leave until I do?” He interrupts, head tilting slightly to the side, the confusion rife on his face. It throws you off your tangent, and your well-thought out, one-sided argument peters out.
“Well – I … As I am your assistant, I can’t leave until you do, in the event that you require my… assistance… because I’m your… assistant?” You almost want to laugh at the near incoherent jumble of words that falls out of your mouth, but you know if you start laughing, you won’t stop, falling into overtired hysterics, and so you tamp down on the giggles. There was, after all, nothing really funny about this situation. “Why are you asking me like you didn’t know that, Kuroo-san?”

Summary
After the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Bucky takes the time to remember and to heal by Steve's side instead of disappearing. Later, he joins the Avengers. You are also part of the team and after a mission has gone awry, Ultron still in the wind, the team is forced to lay low at Clint's house. There, you discover a different Bucky, he is more open, less intimidating and you don't know who decided to let their guards down first.
AU set during Avengers: Age of Ultron and if you hadn't guessed already, Bucky and you have to share a bed (among other things) during that scene of the movie.
