Qifrey just looks at him. “I do.”
The rain continues falling.
(And so Olruggio forgets. And he inevitably figures it out again, because of course he does; and he inevitably chooses to forget again, and again, and again, because his heart is always the same. The story is always the same. Like a tale from under a silverwood tree, like a myth from the days of old, not so much tied by the constraints of the narrative so much as being narrative itself. Antigone must bury her brother. Iphigenia must be put to death. At a thousand turns, in a thousand ways, Orpheus must turn, and he must look, again, and again.
And Olruggio forgets.)

Summary
Pierre Volkov doesn't know how this all happen so fast. It didn't seem that long ago when he could party his life away in bars and casinos, away from the expectations he has to carry in order the please his parents. But ever since their death, he feels like he's running out of time. Not only does he have to be the CEO of his late father's company, but his past is catching up to him with immesurable debts that could lead him to the brink of bankruptcy.
Only one solution is offered to him: he has to get married.
Unfortunatly, only one person is willing to wed him and buy his debt: the terrifying and mysterious Madame Dauphin. Pierre doesn't know why he of all people would help him in his time of need, and he has a bad feeling about it. Now he has to navigate this new relationship and hopefully not die while trying to learn what could possibly make someone like Madame Dauphin take a chance on him.
