That was Shane Hollander. His heart plummeted straight to his feet.
Troy had never been thrilled to see Shane on the ice against him, but this was decidedly worse as the man threw a towel over his shoulder, dark eyes studying him intently.
“Fuck me,” Troy whispered as he looked at Ilya, who gave a not-so-apologetic shrug. Asshole.
Hollander clicked his tongue. “Seems like the world thinks my fiancé is doing that,” he said flatly.
“They are calling us Rozarrett,” Ilya said unhelpfully. “Or Baranov. I’m not sure which.”
Troy wanted to scream at him, but he had other problems at the moment. “Did you say fiancé?”

In which Troy doesn’t immediately post Harris on his socials after coming out, and Ilya is inspired to come out shortly after. The result? An unfortunate misunderstanding, which leaves everyone thinking Baranov is the cutest couple in hockey.

Head hung in shame, Troy crossed the room towards where Shane stood. “Here I am,” he said softly. “You can let me have it. I deserve it.”
“Troy, what is this about?” Harris asked, his voice full of concern.
Before Troy had a chance to reply, Shane was speaking again. “You know all about social media, right Harris? Have you ever heard of that one… Shit, what’s it called? Tinder, or something?” Shane asked, not taking his eyes off Troy.
Harris’ eyes widened in horror. “Tinder?!”
Oh shit. Troy was pretty sure he’d heard of that one. “Tumblr!” he corrected quickly. “It’s called Tumblr!”
“Oh right. Tumblr,” Shane corrected himself with a small shrug. “The geeky one.”

Troy was just placing the tray of coffee and food on the desk, shrugging his bag off his shoulder, when he heard the door behind him open. He turned around, ready to greet his boyfriend, only to feel his brain short-circuit the second he laid eyes on him.
The last time he had seen Harris, he had been standing in their bedroom in his boxers and a graphic t-shirt. A shirt not so dissimilar to the kinds Harris usually wore to work, only in public, they were often paired with pants and a sweater, maybe a jean jacket.
Right now, Harris was dressed in a suit.

There were, maybe, worse places than Ottawa. Troy wouldn't know. Ottawa seemed pretty high on the list of shit places to be. It was clearly intended as retaliation for his outburst.
The list of good things about Ottawa could be counted on one hand. The Mediterranean place near the hotel the Guardians tended to stay at was spectacular. Troy always hoped there was enough time he could stow away and scarf down some hummus. The locker rooms had stalls that were just an inch or two wider than the ones at other stadiums, and that meant both his shoulder pads and knee pads could be hung up in a row instead of staggered. They were an easy win.
And Harris lived there.
