'Stan raises a brow and looks past you into your wrecked apartment. Every blanket, pillow, towel, and sheet was torn from its home and piled onto the floor. You ache to crawl back to your nest, but with no one there with you, it feels hollow. You would just be trying to reach an itch you couldn't scratch. His eyes widen just a bit and you can see the gears turning in his head. God, this is embarrassing.

You laugh but it's more like a sob. "No. This is not what I had planned for today." You wipe at your eyes. Stupid heat hormones. "Shitty drug store suppressants didn't work. I swear I didn’t mean to bail on you."'
