The young enforcer would be lying if she said that she didn't feel hurt as she watched the ex-convict trudge away from her in the rain. But why? "No, not yet, let me-" Lute did not get the chance to look for herself.
"It's Adam Mann! The senior guy, the one everyone always falls for! You know, the one constantly bothering Sera?"
Great. Lute certainly was familiar with the name Adam. From what she knew, he was a senior in business and heavily involved in one of the frats. From what she remembered of the single time they had met at a party, he was completely insufferable and a massive idiot who did nothing but suck his own dick and flirt with any woman who breathed in his direction.
"Yes, I know him. Fiyero is..?"
"Elphaba's love interest!"
Fuck.
"Oh. Right."
OR
Lute, Adam and Heaven Co. (plus Lilith and Lucifer) all attend the same university, and are cast in a production of Wicked! Surely, with all the drama between Adam, Lilith and Lucifer and the fact that Lute cannot stand the Fiyero to her Elphaba, things will go fine. Right? Right. Accompanied, of course, by Emily, Abel and Peter being the ultimate wingmen and Sera just trying to keep things from turning into a dumpster fire (spoiler alert: she's only partially successful).

Summary
Drowning in alcohol, sex, and sanctioned violence, Adam has perfected the art of looking untouchable while quietly destroying himself. Lute, assigned to keep him in line, begins to realize his recklessness is less arrogance than rot in motion. The more she sees, the clearer it becomes: Adam’s cruelty, indulgence, and bloody delight in exterminations are not just vices, but coping mechanisms for pain he’s long since buried. And once Lute understands how much of him is held together by self-destruction, she can no longer pretend she’s only there to supervise him.
