Summary
Nom reached the top first and swung himself onto the final layer before the roof with obvious satisfaction, the movement smooth and sure, his tail flicking once behind him as he straightened. Scott was still lower down, close enough to hear the smugness in the knight’s voice when he leaned over the edge and looked down at him.
“You’re getting slow,” he called, and the teasing in his tone was so familiar that Scott’s answering grin came easily, even as he narrowed his eyes and decided, with complete and utter justification, that cheating was now entirely acceptable.
Magic flashed at his staff, golden light gathering in a quick, bright pulse, and Nom’s expression shifted at once as he cast the spell. Teleportation activated before he could properly react, and Scott vanished from below in a shimmer of light.
He reappeared directly in front of Nom, far too close for either of them to think clearly.

The night was still, except for the faint hiss of Obanai’s snake shifting along his shoulders. Shinobu could hear it even over the chorus of insects that always seemed to sing louder in her presence, as though mocking the way she bore their name. She sat a little distance away from him on the engawa, legs tucked neatly beneath her, the wooden planks warm from the day’s sun but cooling quickly in the night air.
Neither of them spoke at first. They rarely needed to. It was strange, she thought, how silence with most people felt suffocating, but with him it was.. honest. Heavy, yes, but unforced.

Summary
Obanai paused near the edge of the dock, fishing rod balanced in his hand, and took it all in.
He hadn’t been fishing in a long time. Long enough that the place felt both familiar and distant, like something he remembered more with his body than his mind. The way the quiet pressed in. The way the world seemed to narrow to water and sky and whatever waited beneath the surface.
He adjusted his grip, fingers tightening and loosening as if testing himself.
“Didn’t think you’d get here before me.”
Sanemi’s voice cut through the stillness, rough but low, like he was careful not to disturb it too much.

"Ughhh." The groan was only quiet, but it had them all going silent as they leaned in closer, watching Scott's eyes flutter open. He looked between them all slowly, confusion slowly building on his face.
"Am I on the floor?" Scott asked, doing a pretty good impression of someone who had no idea of what was going on. Because that was what it was. An impression. An act. Pyro could see it in Scott's eyes, he knew exactly what had happened. "Drift, how hard did you… hit me with that rock?"
"Sorry mate, that one won't work. The rock didn't even hit you."

Scott didn't much enjoy discovering he preferred walking over carriages during a six-day journey to Birgrandia with his fellow Blue Kingdom members. All he had looked forward to was a bed to sleep in at the end of the day. Only, it proved to be exactly that.
