Colt falls, and the cables whir.
They’re ten, and a group of boys corner Ryland during recess. He takes every insult they throw at him, shoulders hunched and head bowed, until Colt elbows his way between them. Colt, who shouts back with spitting insults and swinging fists. Colt, who ends up in the principal’s office much more after that.

They’re fifteen, and Colt is reminding Ryland that yes, he does need sleep to function, and no, an energy drink does not count as a meal and oh my god what do you mean that’s the only thing you’ve eaten for the past three days?

The hand caressing Mike’s face draws back, forming a fist. Mike’s head snaps to the side with a resounding crack, blood trickling from his busted cheek.
“Will,” he whispers, his lips moving around the word, breathing it like a prayer, like it’s something sacred. “Will.”

Summary
He glances up from the railing, ready to assure Mike that it’s okay, that he understands, when he catches a glimpse of Mike’s face, and all thoughts of that fly out the window. Mike’s eyes have rolled back into his head so only the whites show, twitching under half-closed eyelids. His mouth hangs open, arms slack at his sides.
Will’s heart plummets out of his chest and into his toes as his mind fills with an awful, buzzing static. This can't be happening. Not to Mike.

“Don’t listen to him,” Mike said desperately. “I would never think you’re repulsive. God, Will, you’re fucking perfect.” He let out a broken laugh.
The rest of the room had faded around him, the others standing behind him disappearing until there was only Will, just as it always had been. Mike and Will. Never one without the other, until the Byers had upped and left for Lenora, and Mike had ruined it all, because that was what Mike did. He ruined things. But Will needed him, and Mike wasn’t going to let himself destroy anything else.

Rocky visits Grace's life support quarters with some exciting news, some time into his recovery on Erid---the biodome habitat has finally been completed.
It takes a step through the airlock and sinks down into rough sand and pebbles. I chirp and hop down after it. Grace has not seen the biodome yet, but neither have I, and in my enthusiasm I dart slightly ahead.
Grace inhales so sharply that I turn to hear him better in a panic. “Grace? Grace, what is wrong? You are hurt?”
My assumption is quickly corrected when, without warning, it bolts.

Dean knows Sam better than he knows himself.
He could put his life on that fact.
Hell, he’s changed his diapers. Cleaned his cut knees. Taught him to drive a car. Frankly, Dean has been a major part of every stage of Sam’s life. He could pass a degree in Sam without breaking a sweat. Good, bad, everything in between.
One thing he can’t do is read Sam’s mind. More than not, he wishes he could. Peal away the masks and smiles and see what his baby brother is truly thinking from one moment to the next. What is happening in that big brain of his, Dean will never fully understand.

Dean and Sam face some issues that Sam has been battling with for a while.... Set around Season 9 (spoilers if you haven't watched that far) after Gadreel. Canon Diversion- No Mark of Cain. They sort their issues out a little instead.
