Summary
Couldn’t she give me something? Anything? She gave herself away so freely to everyone else, why wasn’t there anything left over for the one who cared for her the most? I begged her, pleaded. To give me anything, even if it's just a small piece of her, that could be mine, and mine alone.
She stopped crying, and looked at me, thoughtfully, silent. A strange recognition sparked in her eyes. I was sure at that moment that I’d gone too far. I’d finally proven too needy, too pathetic, and that this would be the end.
Instead, as she sat on my bed, her back against the wall, she wrapped her arms around her knees, and wiggled her feet.
“Okay. How about these? Is that enough?”
