Just like the ATLAS, he and Light were destined to burn. He knew this. He knew it. It was only logical.
People like Light didn’t stay with people like him. Soon they would become asynchronous again, tracing individual orbits that would never meet.
Light would stay here, tethered to the glory, and continue on the trajectory that he had always been destined to.
And L would untether himself again. Searching for another planet to gravitate toward.

“Oh, he is? Then I guess I will. My mom and dad have a date planned since it's the weekend, what time is his discharge?” Light replied with a pleasant smile.
“How convenient." His smile was so forced it hurt, the nurse giving him an odd look at his words that didn’t make sense, but nothing he said made sense, so when Light shrugged his shoulders she nodded before walking away.
Simply believing that L was struggling to gather his thoughts.
