Summary
Galinda’s cheeks warmed under the scrutiny, but she kept her smile in place. “I simply enjoy learning, Madame.”
Madame Morrible’s lips curved, not quite a smile. “Do you. How admirable. You have always had such… appetite. I did not know it spanned learning, too. Hungry for knowledge, are we?” The word struck with a strange force. Galinda felt it land somewhere beneath her ribs; a small, cold weight.
The old witch continued, tone conversational. “Yes… Appetites for admiration. Appetites for attention. Appetites for… indulgence, after all. It is a pity, really. Such a pretty girl. One would hope you might learn restraint, Miss Upland. Maybe it’d help your studies. A little less appetite and a little more restraint.
A hush fell, subtle but immediate. Galinda heard it the way one hears a glass set down too hard in a quiet room. Somewhere behind her, a student shifted in their seat. Elphaba’s head snapped around, eyes flashing.

Summary
Galinda had searched high and low for her soulmate before coming to the conclusion that her mark was flawed, somehow, keeping it contained to the pages of her sketchbook for her eyes only.
That is, until Elphaba comes back early from class and scares the book right out of her hands for both of them to see.
Now Elphaba seems to think Galinda had been drawing her and that can only mean one thing...

Summary
“Galinda?” The word cracked, uncharacteristically raw.
Her wife blinked up at her in confusion, eyes glassy and unfocused, lips parting like she was about to apologise for the mess – she was always apologising, that silly girl, even for gravity failing her.
“I… I just need… a second…” she breathed, but her voice sounded small, faraway, like a broadcast cutting to static. She felt dizzy, like she was drowning in sparkling water filling her head.
She caught Glinda by the waist just as her knees gave out. Elphaba’s grip tightened, one arm wrapping fully around her back, the other bracing the back of Glinda’s head as she lowered her gently toward her chest, shielding her from view.
“No. No more seconds.” Elphaba’s words were quiet but steel-edged, and the tremor in them betrayed a depth of fear she had been swallowing for weeks. “We’re leaving.”

(Or: Glinda collapses from overworking herself whilst at a fancy gala. Elphaba, ever the gentleman, swoops in to save her wife from herself. Comes with heaping doses of the softest hurt/comfort.)

“I thought about you every night,” Glinda whispers, truthfully. It spills out of her, raw and urgent, as if she’s trying to profess her vulnerability like a badge of honor. As if it might make her worthy of being claimed, of being loved too. Her voice is cracked open, breathless. Not defiant, just ruined. “I waited.”
She swears Elphaba’s hand tightens on her hip—just slightly. Like she’s the one trembling now. She presses on, one more truth.
“I couldn’t stop.”Or
Glinda hasn’t heard from or seen Elphaba since she helped her through her heat, and she’s slowly unraveling. And when Elphaba finally returns, it’s not exactly how Glinda imagined it.
