I have a feeling this is gonna be an intense one so this is the before reading note. I am #mindful #prepared and I am #obsessedwithchicagoarchitecture in fact I want on a river cruise today where a nice lad gave a 75 minute spiel on the history of chicagos architecture which I'm studying for a project. Fun! I'm personally not a fan of brutalism (art deco ftw 5eva) but I assume it's relevant so...
Ok! Just finished and Wow. Wowowowowowow. The metaphors within this piece of art are making me contemplate the shape of the world and my place within it like Seriously. I want to live in Chicago for 20 years and love this place and know it like the back of my hand and get a degree in architecture and skate on hockey blades on a pond and fall in love and become a whole person with another person and then come back and reread this with a deeper understanding. Truly beautiful writing.

Knowing that Minho is dying ruins the illusion of perfection.

Luke starts teething on a hot jungle planet where they hunker down for three weeks, sleeping in an abandoned old temple and catching the local wildlife for dinner. Leia takes her first steps in the belly of a Corellian freighter they’ve stowed away on. She wobbles between Padme’s outstretched hands and Obi Wan’s knees and boxes of smuggled luxuries. When she falls down, Obi Wan surges forward, heart in his throat, but Leia laughs.

He’s of modest height and slim build, clad in a black cloak with the hood pulled up over his head. The energy in the room instantly changes as he steps forward, becoming weighted and charged. There’s a sense of raw deference in the way everyone watches him. When the commander from earlier steps forward and tries to speak, the man raises a gloved hand to cut him off without looking, dismissing him as easily as one of the rank and file.
