Summary
Something twisted in Peter's gut and he clenched his fists tightly by his side, resisting the urge to scream and storm out. Instead he took a breath and turned around returning to his room to call Ned.
"Hey!" Ned greeted.
"Hey, dude. Sorry I can't come today, Tony said I can't but we can do something tomorrow, I swear." Peter explained.
Ned laughed on the other end of the line.
"Don't worry about it, tomorrow sounds great!"

Summary
Peter always knew he was the odd one out in his family. It wasn't like he didn't try, he did try to be apart of the family just when he was younger and it never worked. He was never able to connect with anyone, at least not the way Harley connected with their dad, or the way Morgan had everyone wrapped around her little finger since the day she was born.
Peter was just there, in a way he believed that he wasn't important, not to his family anyway. That was what he always believed, at least before he got his powers and became the one and only Spider-man.
Maybe there was a reason why he was always the odd one out after all.

He stared at the woman across him, a small, desperate hope blooming in his chest; but his vision was still slightly fuzzy at the edges so he wasn’t totally sure this wasn't a drug-induced hallucination from mixing weed and coke.

Maybe there's not that much of a difference between a hero and a villain. Maybe it's just a series of choices or even just the way people perceive you. Peter Parker doesn't want to be a villain, but maybe he no longer wants to be a hero either. Maybe he's just angry, and tired of following everyone else's rules. Maybe he just doesn't care what people think of him anymore.
