Summary
Max still chooses to think that his point stands strong: they both know something’s afoot and that’s probably enough for now.

Technically, that's a sequel to the original fanfic "The Greatest Feat of Not Being Okay" with some old shenanigans being resolved. While it is unnecessary to read the previous work, it might be helpful to take note of some references.
Rated T for swearing.

This whole thing sucks, he thinks, but it could be worse.

When Max's living situation becomes compromised, his only choice is to turn to David. There is a lot of adaptation to do and, rather predictably, a lot of unresolved thoughts.

Summary
“It sounds like the Marsupilami's overhearing love confessions,” Mlle. Suzanne suggested, thoughtfully. “Is he repeating conversations between a married couple? Mainly the wife’s side, I’d say…”
“Or,” Mlle. Jeanne sighed longingly, “a young lady’s musings about the man of her dreams, which she yearns for… oh, how romantic!”
“Er. Yes.” Spirou swallowed. “Maybe.”
Or: The Marsupilami has started parroting an unknown gentleman's romantic sentiments, which are clearly directed at another man. Recovering from injury and with nothing better to do, Spirou gets a little too invested in the mystery...

Summary
Fantasio’s eyes flitted to him, and away again, and he asked “...and I didn’t do anything else, did I?”
Spirou swallowed. “What do you mean?”
“During the… the madness. Did I do anything else. Anything worse.”
“Worse than trying to kill me?” Spirou was evading. Stalling. He was being clumsy about it, too, but there was nothing to be done about that. “Like what?”
“I… I don’t know.” Fantasio looked pale in the moonlight, oddly frightened. “Anything.”
Spirou and Fantasio have survived the Valley of the Banned - but some experiences are easier to leave behind than others.
