His last book didn't sell, so now he's doing work for hire, ghostwriting the next in a series of ridiculous horror novels about two hot brothers who hunt monsters together. It’s pretty popular, and the fans are desperate for the next instalment — which is a problem, because the guy who usually writes them just up and vanished a couple of months ago. He left behind a signed contract and the outline for the next two stories, so the publisher’s been looking for someone else who could pick up where Chuck left off. And that's Cas.
So he heads to a cafe to get the words out ... and that's where he meets Dean, a smartass wannabe comedian who's working on his stand-up set. Cas is straight, obviously, but there's something about this guy that he's fascinated with. The two of them strike up a friendship ... and soon the world Cas is writing and the world he's living in begin to get mixed up.
Sometimes you're writing what you know without even realizing it ...

Bon Jovi’s “It’s My Life” is on every radio of the country, the Cubs haven't won the World Series in almost a century, and Georges W. Bush just got elected President of the United States. Dean has been dating Cas, his high school sweetheart, for almost ten years and together they raise a daughter, Claire, who’s about to turn 1.
Life, all things considered, is good.
It’s 2021. Dean Winchester wakes up from 20 years in a coma after taking a bullet into the head on a case gone wrong. 9/11 happened almost 20 years ago, the world is on fire, the Cubs won the World Series five years ago, and Bon Jovi put out 6 albums since “It’s my Life”. Dean’s baby daughter just turned 21, his brother married an incredible woman and has two kids he doesn’t know, and his boyfriend... Well, Cas is still by his side, but there’s stuff he’s keeping from Dean.
Of course, this would be enough to fill Dean’s plate if he didn’t also have to figure out who put a bullet into his head, 20 years back.

However, now he was in college, and is shocked to see his imaginary friend as an actual man, talking and interacting with people with no knowledge on who Castiel even was. Now Cas had a choice, confront the man wearing his imaginary friend's face, or ignore him and chalk it up to being a very long day.
