Summary
“Are you homophobic?”
“What?”
“Will you be my boyfriend?”
“Yes,” Eddie answered, automatically, even though his mind had volunteered several other pressing questions, like what are you talking about and what is happening and did I recently sustain brain damage.
“Thanks,” said Buckley, and then he pushed Eddie back against the side of the firetruck and kissed him.

Summary
Eddie huffs. It’s respectable and masculine, probably. “You know I’m not interested in—”
“Yes, Eddie, I know,” Buck drolls. “You’re off the horse. The meat market is closed. Your dick is on Do Not Disturb. I just think the pot shouldn’t be calling the kettle out,” he gestures between them with an emphatic finger, “for bad dates. Not when the pot is, ostensibly, a born-again virgin.”
“I’m not a born-again virgin,” Eddie grumbles. “Don’t start this again.”
“I’m not starting anything,” Buck lies. “I’m watching the movie.” Another lie. Then he flops unceremoniously back down, head strewn across Eddie’s clenched thighs.
Or: Buck’s mouth moves faster than Eddie’s brain.

Summary
[“You’d fuck any stranger, if they only looked your way, wouldn’t you?” Eddie says.
(It’s how the game goes.)
“Don’t know, Eds.” He exhales, looking Eddie dead in the eyes. “She was pretty fucking good.”
Eddie scoffs, his fingers squeeze on Buck’s knee, and then higher, on his thigh.
“Maybe.” Eddie concedes. “Maybe she fucked you and made you come, but you didn’t like it, did you?”
“Eddie.”
“No one’s as good as me, is it, Buck? No one knows you like I do.”
“But you’re not jealous?”]

After Bobby’s death, Buck falls back into old habits he swore he’d outgrown. Eddie notices, and pretends he's not burning with a feeling he refuses to name.
But grief has a way of pulling at the cracks, and love has a way of making it worse.Bookmarked by pythonissam

Summary
He should be glad of it. He doesn’t want people to know he’s struggling, and they don’t. But why doesn’t Buck know? He’s always known, always seen through Eddie’s carefully constructed walls and carved himself a door into them. Even when Eddie resisted, even when he pushed back, Buck ducked his head and shoved through and found the tender hurt Eddie was guarding, cupped his hands around it and held until it didn’t ache so much.
And now Eddie’s bleeding internally, swollen with regret, and Buck doesn’t say a thing. Eddie can’t ask him to. If he opens his mouth, he might just start screaming.
~
There's distance between Eddie and Buck. Eddie isn't falling apart. These are two equally true statements.
