Summary
The Midford family is cursed. A common, well-known fact in the modern 21st century for anyone who knows the family. Rarely does anyone age past thirty, except the most recent patriach of the family: a once sickly child turned sickly man who was named after a how-ever-many-greats uncle who died as a child. Ironic, considering the name Ciel had been a tongue-in-cheek jab at the child's likelyhood of dying earlier.
Fortunately, the family has had the best luck with its waitstaff and now housekeeping.

(rewrite.)
As the only female High Elf of your family, you are sent on a diplomatic mission into the Underdark. But diplomacy becomes a dark and twisted maze as you are forced into the toxic Drow matriarchy, in which men are only slaves, and the only laws to be followed are the whims of the Dark Queen.
Or, you participate in a horribly twisted culture in order to free sex slaves. And maybe marry one or a few of them.

Summary
Children should not look like that, Mey-Rin thinks, horribly angry and irrevocably furious with things beyond her control. Children should never look so afraid of being alive. They should feel safe, and loved, and Mey-Rin, despite their difference in social status, wishes with so much urgent desperation that she could wrap the young master, half out of his mind with fever, up into softest, most comfortable things, and hold him there, tight and protected in her arms, until all the evil has gone away, and all the bad thoughts simply stop existing.
