Summary
"You're an idiot," Paul says when they're alone again, shaking his head as he shuffles around to stand behind John, and the shadowed sight of the cut at the crown of John's head makes his stomach lurch, "you need stitches."
"Can't be that bad."
"Is, though."
"Can't be, barely even hit me head! Just a bonk on the way down."
Paul wants to argue. He wants to scream at the top of his lungs that John's lucky his bloody skull is so thick. He settles for just puffing up his cheeks with a big, big breath, holding it, and letting it out in a big, big rush.
And calling John an idiot again.
"S'at nice, Bunny? S'at a nice thing t'call your knight in shining armor?" John asks, and he's so bloody loud when he's drunk, and he cackles to himself as he reaches back to paw sloppily at Paul's hip.
"You're no knight," Paul responds coolly, and mercifully, it seems like the bleeding is slowing up. "And that had nothin' to do with me, so don't go draggin' me into it."
That's not strictly true, and Paul knows that, but what else is he supposed to say?

Summary
They wander around for a few minutes and eventually settle on a couple crates outside of the Mess Tent. Hawkeye just perches on his, but BJ fully folds all six-foot-four of himself atop the other one, hugging his knees to his chest and resting his chin on the dip between them. He still looks small and fragile and so damn tired, and Hawkeye’s heart feels like it’s trapped in a fist.
“Do you ever get used to it?”

At that, Richie does laugh, jostling Eddie in his arms and kissing Eddie's forehead again, a wet, smacking, obnoxious sort of kiss. His laugh isn't mocking or mean, but satisfied, warm, and Richie sees the way Eddie's big eyes light up at it.
"You're such a little freak," Richie coos, the hand that isn't currently inching its way further down the crack of Eddie's ass coming up to chuck Eddie under the chin.

“Wait, wait,” Eddie says suddenly, and everyone stops in their tracks and turns to look at him. He’s still looking a little pinchy and a little stressed, but he fits right in with the rest of the pinchy, stressed group of them. He jerks an accusatory thumb in Richie’s direction. “Numbnuts didn’t book a room, so he’s got nowhere to sleep tonight.”
Richie’s face flushes hot so fast he gets dizzy, and he tries to really cooly lean against the bar, but his elbow slips a little and he almost busts his entire ass. Still, though, after resituating himself, he flashes the gang a cheesy smile.
“Oh, shit, it did say NO VACANCY outside, huh?” Ben asks, face twisting up in genuine concern, which is refreshing.
“You moron,” Stan says, shaking his head, which is less refreshing but more familiar, “what, too busy eating shit in front of a crowd to call ahead?”

Richie doesn't book a room at the Townhouse and has to crash with Eddie. Chaos ensues.
