“How’d you know?”
They’re sitting by the pool, soaking in the early summer sun and passing the new strain Steve got back and forth. It’s just the two of them, and he feels relaxed and floaty and not thinking about the hundred different things that could be rearing up to attack Hawkins when they least expect it. It was shaping up to be a good day, which of course meant it couldn’t last.
He pauses, joint halfway to his mouth. “What do you mean?”
“Don’t give me that, we all had an awakening. Nothing to be ashamed of. What was yours?”
Steve grimaces, and Eddie frowns at him. “Hey, man, you don’t have to tell me if-”
“It’s kind of embarrassing,” he blurts out.

“Eddie,” Gareth says, solemnly.
Eddie nods.
“I’m telling you now, even though I know it’s pointless, because you never listen to anything I say. Ever.”
Eddie nods again.
“Please. I am begging you. Do not fuck our new roommate.”
“Why the fuck would you say that?” Eddie hisses, cheeks aflame again. “What is wrong with your-”
“That’s all I’m saying,” Gareth interrupts airily, hands up in mock surrender. “No further objections. You’re just a natural disaster, and I’d rather keep the apartment a conflict free zone, so.”---
Eddie and Gareth require two new roommates (must be okay with illegally housed cats, must be chill with late night band practices). Robin and Steve require a place to live, and have little to no other options.
Months down the line, Eddie still finds himself tongue tied and avoidant around his very hot-probably-straight-weirdly-intense new cohabitation buddy, which is all very well and good- until they end up snowed in together during a powercut, and are forced to get a little cozy together <3- Language:

Summary
Even though she wasn’t technically his daughter, and her and Mike weren't technically a couple, Hopper still felt like he needed to give the little twerp some lecture about staying away from her. The kid might have only been twelve years old, but Hopper didn’t trust him.
Maybe El would eventually just forget about him, and Hop would never have to hear about Mike Wheeler or his friends ever again.
The thought actually made him smile.
