In nearly every way (except the most notable), the Princess of Hyrule was the Goddess incarnate. For that reason alone, it was a little ingenious for the King to offer up his daughter’s hand to whoever was able to pull the sword.
Link hadn’t meant to pull the sword. He planned to watch as his comrades pulled with all their might, perhaps even tease a few about how it was all for the better that the sword didn’t budge, because surely no Princess could ever love their ugly mugs, and then get into a good old-fashioned wrestling match with their bruised egos after one too many jokes. But it hadn’t mattered what he had in mind; Link’s plans be damned. The Goddess had already plucked him out of obscurity and set him along Her own path.

this fic is brilliant, the kind that as soon as i finished it i was on the hunt for anything that had the same feel and world building. the world of breath of the wild feels like untapped potential and this fic really proves it. i love the idea that link isn't the perfect hero/saviour of the world and tries to put the sword back. i love the writing for zelda, the looming pressure and her struggles to grasp her powers.
a fully fleshed world that was created through a handful of flashback cutscenes and journal entries, amazing.

After growing up alone and hungry, Iruka is very careful to live his life under the radar, even while he remembers the dog-masked Anbu who saved him. He's irate when he's forced to teach a certain jinchuriki in his classroom and wants nothing to do with the brat. Then he notices the worst thing in the world: Uzumaki Naruto is hungry.
