Jason knows she’s not selfish enough to want the title, the burden, of the only good thing he’s ever had, a lone and unmarred spot amongst a burned out wreck. Marie doesn’t stay because she thinks she can sweep his past aside but because she doesn’t need to. It’s as though her very conception of Jason blots it all out, irrevocably: a simple before and after where she only has to claim allegiance to one side.
Jason doesn’t know, can’t bear to know, how she rationalises it in her head, how she lies by his side night after night without fear. He wonders if it’s getting easier with time, or harder, as every new bit of information comes slowly to the surface, and none of them exonerate him at all the way she tries to. If he were braver, he’d ask. But he’s not. He won’t make her answer.

Jason Voorhees, they call him, and he kills to avenge his Mother and the child that he’d been, choking and struggling at the bottom of that lake while the camp counselors in charge of his safety looked the other way.

Summary
When Enji Todoroki is told that he can avoid being sentenced as an adult for the arson he committed as a 18 year old if he completes a stupid western-themed summer camp for deliquent kids, he almost takes the option of adult prison. The thought of spending his summer surrounded by truant 13 year olds pretending to be cowboys is nearly enough to make him sick, but when he arrives at One For All Ranch, he's greeted not by hordes of bratty children and tired camp councellors, but Toshinori Yagi, a man not five years older than Enji and wearing a perpetual smile. When Enji is told that due to a funding glitch, he and Toshinori will be the only two people at the ranch that summer, he can't decide if it's a stroke of luck or curse, but he knows that he has to see this through if he wants any chance of getting his life on the right path and trying to find some shred of happiness in a life that has shown him none.
This is a story of finding your true self, of learning to allow yourself to accept love, and of snug wranglers and dusty cowboy boots.
