Davos cannot help the choked sound that leaves him as he tucks Stannis away and stands face-to-face with him once again. There’s something rather striking about the way the lord is looking down at him; most often Davos is his right-hand man, his voice of reason, stuck in company of those who do not truly understand the odd master he serves – yet now he is the one taking charge, Stannis reduced to a writhing mess in his weathered hands. “That’s alright, Your Grace,” he says, smiling warmly, and Stannis does not hesitate to slump forward into his waiting embrace soon thereafter. Davos’ grin spreads.
Stannis hungers. Davos lives to serve.
