    “You know,” Olruggio says, roughly. He doesn’t move to take Qifrey’s hand again. “You know. You can’t not know, Qifrey.”

    Qifrey just looks at him. “I do.”

    The rain continues falling.

    (And so Olruggio forgets. And he inevitably figures it out again, because of course he does; and he inevitably chooses to forget again, and again, and again, because his heart is always the same. The story is always the same. Like a tale from under a silverwood tree, like a myth from the days of old, not so much tied by the constraints of the narrative so much as being narrative itself. Antigone must bury her brother. Iphigenia must be put to death. At a thousand turns, in a thousand ways, Orpheus must turn, and he must look, again, and again.

    And Olruggio forgets.)

    There is an old story about a witch and a silverwood tree.

    It was fine and normal to have a crush on your best friend, especially when probably half the art department also had a crush on said best friend, because that just proved you had good taste, and also he moved like he’d switched out half his bones for grace. It was fine and normal in a completely platonic— almost completely platonic— way to be struck with how much you cared for your best friend when he was stretched out next to you on your bed and grinning at you like the sun.

    ""Something to hopefully ease the pain.." Qifrey whispers as he runs one hand along Olruggio's cheek and sweeps the hair from his friend's forehead with the other. "Are you with the living?" He teases.

    Olruggio's body seems very much to protest the action, but with great effort he forces his eyes open, meeting Qifrey's own.

    All his body's prior hesitance is gone in an instant as Olruggio's eyes open wide as saucers. His face breaks out into a faint scarlet, warm to the touch and reaching the tips of his ears.

    "Whooa!" Olruggio slurs, reaching upwards to hold Qifrey's face with both hands. "You're beautifulll!"

    Oh dear."

    OR, Olruggio is delirious and lovestruck after being sedated for a nasty burn wound, Qifrey is there to watch over him and take the brunt of his feelings
