Summary
Eddie rushes over to his side, patting him hard on the back to loosen up the smoke trapped in his chest. Richie wheezes, sputtering, hacking as bits of spit fling from his mouth and land in gobs on the sidewalk. Eddie jumps out of their way so fast that his scarf unravels from around his neck and boom: there it fucking is. The bright white collar frames his throat so perfectly.
“Holy fuck,” Richie exhales. “You’re a priest?”
Eddie winces. “Well, not technically. I’m still in seminary school—”
“Right, right. You were saying…” Richie trails off, his eyes unable to tear away from the collar now that he sees it. “But. You? You sure?”
Eddie crosses his arms over his chest in a huff. “Yes I’m fucking sure what the fuck does that mean?”
Ahh. There he is. Still in there. Richie shoots him a smug half-smile.

He thought he wouldn’t need it, perceptive mind of a Putlitzer-winning journalist, for whatever that gets him. But that’s nothing compared to Armand. Five hundred years of practiced manipulation. Decades of watching over Daniel and learning him without Daniel's permission.
Daniel’s shoulders sag as he leans against the wall. “I’m wondering…what was different? About me? You held me hostage. You whispered sweet nothings in my ear. You told me to rest. Your fangs were bared and aimed for my neck. And in the end, you let me live. Why?”

Summary
Beverly stands up, wiping the dirt that’s stuck to the sweat of her legs. She looks at the boys with her hands on her hips and one eyebrow raised. “Look it’s either we go to the beach or we all sit around undergroud waiting for the sun to set and I really, really don’t want to waste a summer day being hot and miserable when we could be eating ice cream on a pier.”
It’s silent in the clubhouse, nothing but the buzz of the insects simmering under the sun. Eddie can feel the heat of Bev’s stare on his face just as burning as if he were under the open sky. He flops backwards on the hammock and sighs, resigned to his fate.
“Fine. Fine! We’ll go to the beach.”
The other Losers sigh in relief and maybe a bit of joy at the thought of some reprieve from the heat. Eddie feels a hand tapping at his knee and he looks down at Richie’s smiling face.
“Don’t worry Eds. If a jellyfish stings you, I can just pee on you. Gets the sting right out.”
Eddie’s groan isn’t loud enough to drown out Richie’s laughing.

No, he and John saw one, after the war, mandatory evaluation, and Terry saw another, right after 1987, when he’d gotten his ass into rehab, for real. Given up the cocaine, the prostitutes, the late night drives down Reseda Boulevard. Moved on.
Loretta was better than either of them. She understood him. She saw that his boundaries had been de-prioritized, that John leaving him after the war was a core wound that he had never been able to recover from psychologically. She said continuing to practice karate was a toxic form of self-soothing that inhibited the recovery process.
Or, Terry goes to therapy and Robby develops a soul-destroying, life-ending, unrequited crush on Mister LaRusso.
