“When is Narancia’s birthday?”
Fugo pauses again. Trying not to let his face go sheepish as he swallows. He tries to speed up his thought process, to give anything before he looks too suspicious, but it’s too late. The silence had gone on for too long. Enough for realization to sink in.
“Shit. Do you not know it either?!” Mista sits up, looking shocked, before it narrows into a glare. “Come on, dude! You’ve known him longer than me. He practically attaches himself to your hip!”
Fugo stares, mouth moving without a sound. He’s aware of how it all sounds.

May 20th. Printed right on an old crumpled medical bill from when Narancia was 15 and receiving care for his eye. The guilt evident in each of their eyes when they realized that they have missed not only one year, but nearly another.They could make it up. Celebrate him the way he did for them.
In the end, perhaps they should have suspected that something was off in the silence.
