    Summary

Robby always remembered the man who studied with him in med school. He’d first met him at a bar dancing freely like nothing could hurt him. He saw him pick up another man and leave with him and envied the courage he had. When he saw him in his medical course he picked up the courage to get with him.

Abbot always remembered the wounded man he'd picked up in the Desert. A British soldier who had escaped captivity. He’d helped nurse him to health. And soon the two became entangled.

Robby always wondered what happened to the man, he just disappeared one day. Abbot wished he didn’t know what happened to the Brit.

So when a med student appeared looking like the man they both lost it’s too good to be true.

Dennis just wants to die. Hopefully when he’s not undead. So why does he have to spend this last hurrah tortured by the only people he’s ever loved.

    Or

Dennis is a suicidal vampire trying to die as a human. And on his last attempt the two attendings from his past are put on his path .

    Summary

Dennis Whitaker has always been good at holding it together, until he isn’t.

After a panic attack leaves him shaken in the middle of the Pitt, Dennis begins to question everything: his competence, his place, and whether the things he’s spent years burying will ever loosen their grip.

He doesn’t talk about home. He definitely doesn’t talk about the way his heart stutters when Dr. Robinavitch smiles at him, or when Jack Abbott calls him kid with that crooked grin.

They’re married. They’re happy. They’re kind to him.
That has always been enough.

Until a patient forces Dennis to face the parts of himself he’s spent years refusing to name. Trauma doesn’t stay quiet, and neither does the anger that comes with it. As old wounds resurface, Dennis is pushed to confront how deeply his past still shapes him and whether healing is possible when you’ve spent so long just surviving.

The Pitt is about saving lives.
Dennis is starting to wonder if anyone can save his.

    Summary

Robby leans back from their hug, heart slamming against his chest as he takes Jacks face in his hands, cradling it with a certain intensity that he knew Jack needed. "Not today." Robby manages to say, his voice quiet in the morning breeze and shaky from years of pent up emotions.

"Not today." Jack repeats back to him, clinging to Robby's hoody and tipping his head till they stand forehead to forehead. Breathing each other in for just a moment, a sliver of time where he didn't have to go back down there to start his shift. Where he could lose himself in Jack Abbot one more time. Robby needed this. He needed this because of what today marked, because of what it brought up. But god he had no idea what today still had in store for him as the sun continued to rise in the distance.

”Just make sure you come back, and if it gets dark, you call me.”

Robby hadn’t responded to him, then. He hadn’t responded because he was never going to call Jack in the first place. His mind had been made up.

He was never planning on coming back.

    Summary

The reaper scrunches her nose and lilts her voice. “You’re a hunter, aren’t you? I’m sure you have your ways.”

Dennis sucks in a breath through his teeth. “I don’t–that’s not my life anymore. I haven’t hunted for years.”

“Huh.” Goldie cocks her head which makes her blonde curls sway. “I thought being a hunter was like being a Dallas Cowboys fan–you just don’t know when to quit.”

    “I’m from Nebraska. I’m a Chiefs fan.”

    “And your point is?”

“My point is, I have better taste in football teams and I don’t hunt anymore. I’m a doctor because I want to help people, but actually have a normal life.” Done with the conversation, Dennis stands, ensuring that there’s enough space between them, and hooks his backpack over his right shoulder. “I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to find someone else to help you with Mr. Mitchell.”

    Or,

Dennis Whitaker is a retired hunter who wants to live a normal life, but instead gets pulled back in by a reaper who wants answers. To get the answers, he has to call in for some help with two brothers from his past and a guy in a trench coat.
