The marks on his neck, arms, healed, all of them, and sometimes Antonio thinks none of it happened, because it sounds surreal, because he can't tell anyone how he was a blood slave for years without being looked at as if he had gone insane. But when he undresses to take a bath, to change clothes, and in a moment his reflection appears in the mirror, Antonio sees the mark on his chest, a deep bite on his left pectoral, right over his heart. At first it hurt like hell, as if a wolf was trying to get to his heart to eat it, but over the years it healed. Still, the mark hasn't gone away.
Or; Antonio despises vampires and Joseph wants to devour him.

The first time he saw him, Eternal Light felt strange, tense, because of such a different and chaotic presence in his perfect reality, fire in his eternal paradise. And he knows that he could not be the only superior being in existence, that is a question he knows the answer to, but to see him, to see Inferno Sonata in the flesh, to witness a mind that is not connected to the space of his reality, to everything that Eternal Light controls, to all the information that his processors store and analyse and modify and alter and punish and exterminate and bring back to life.
It was fascinating.

Joseph wanted him dead. He desperately wanted Antonio to be dead, to have been dead for months, for three years.
Why, if not through death, could the absence of Antonio be explained? Joseph wanted him dead, so he would have a reason to cling to that coat that was too long for him, so his tears were justified under the cloak of mourning, so he would have been the last person who loved the violinist.
