Hajime is forced to be his buddy by the teacher when nobody else volunteers and he has to show him around the school. He hopes to ditch the weird new kid as soon as possible and re-join his friends but upon spending more time with him he eventually realises Nagito has just had a hard life and is very lonely despite always smiling.
