Idia knew better than most what it meant to devote your life to someone, to practically become an NPC if it meant being support for the real hero. He felt like that for Ortho, especially now that the kid had a soul of his own. And he knew Silver felt like that for Malleus, overrated as the guy was. Summary
Children have a bad habit of growing up when you're not looking. When Malleus thinks about Silver, he sees the infant Lilia had found all those years ago, the countless training sessions he'd watched over. Malleus was sure he'd made peace with the fact that everyone at the dining table would eventually leave him, but it never quite occurred to him that it would happen so soon. Silver now stood before him, asking for his blessing to start a relationship with Idia. It was all suddenly becoming far too real.
