Things got complicated when Spring's Mating season came around and Shuichi developed feelings for Dabi that quickly became obsessive, leading to them going their separate ways and ending things on a bad foot.
Years later they both join the league and now have to navigate the unresolved tension between them.

She’d just finished washing and looking him over for any more serious injuries, but with how locked up his hair is at the scalp, it was pretty hard to tell if he had anything there on her own. She would have to rely on him to say something, but obviously she couldn’t.
“Yeahh, guess I just forgot, huh?” Jabber turned to face her with a smile, suddenly much more energetic. “But if I had told you, you wouldn’t have gone and dug your fingers into it.” He reached to keep messing with it, but Cthoni smacked his hand away.
“I don’t want you to hurt yourself.” She said without thinking, and Jabber’s face went soft.
Jabber and Cthoni bathe together. Cthoni works through her complicated feelings towards Jabber.

That’s all Lucifer felt as he stumbled out of the hole in the ground left by Vox’s angelic war cannon. He attempted to joke, saying something along the lines of “Don’t go down there, it’s a place of pain,” though he didn’t know if he managed to get the words out before he collapsed.
White-hot pain seared through his head as it knocked against the ground. He was spent. The well of power he usually felt thrumming under his skin was strangely silent now. He groaned, trying desperately to stand up again.
If anyone saw him like this, if anyone got it into their head that he was weak… He didn’t know what would happen, but he didn’t want to find out.
He was about to resign himself to death before someone saved him in the nick of time. Now, Alastor is assigned to be his caretaker, and Lucifer was extremely unhappy about it. Maybe death would have been better than this personal Hell.
Or,
Lucifer is tired after the final battle against the Vees, and Alastor is coerced into taking care of him by a stressed-out Charlie. Neither of them enjoy it... at first-- though their feelings towards each other soon begin to change.
