Nobody had heard from Steve Harrington in years.
Eddie remembered him briefly from the summers he spent visiting Wayne in Hawkins whenever his career criminal father broke probation, but they didn’t interact much. Hell, Eddie wasn’t sure they’d even had a conversation before…but he wasn’t going to forget a face like that in a hurry, especially one that looked just as good in scrubs as it did in a letterman jacket.
Some people just got all the luck.

Steve exhales like a gasp. He doesn’t know why it surprises him that Eddie remembers. The boy is wonderfully astute at the best of times.
“Yeah,” Steve drawls. Eddie squeezes him gently.
“Got that fancy dinner thing.” Steve gulps and nods, eyes closed so he can better see the snapshots of his nightmares, the prying disapproving eyes of his parent’s so-called friends as Steve is trotted out like an animal at a county fair. The parenting equivalent of a booby prize.
