Rain drops trickled over the roof of the building where the shooting location of Monsta X's photoshoot for their new album was held as heavy rain poured from above. No one dared to drive through the rain on a Wednesday night, leaving the boys and the staff stranded, and desperately hoping for the rain to subside.
The night was getting deeper yet the rain had shown no signs of stopping as the melodic tune of raindrops has now accompanied by loud thunder, disturbing the calm peace of the rainy night they'd usually enjoy if not for their busy schedule.
'What a fine lovely night in Jeju,' Kihyun sarcastically thought to himself.
Sooner enough, the boys and the staff eventually agreed on spending the night at the shooting location instead, being left with no other choice but to give up on hoping that the rain would soon stop and just spend the night in the warehouse, it didn't take long before the quarters were set up to at least give everyone some privacy while getting their well deserved rest.
The boys decided to spend their night in pairs, something they haven't done in a while because of the luxury of having their own rooms back in the dorm, oh how they miss being in their dorm right now. Shownu paired up with Minhyuk, while Jooheon paired up with Changkyun, thus leaving Kihyun to share tents with Hyungwon.
They bid their good nights to each other and headed off to their respective tents to spend the night. Kihyun starting to feel annoyed with the lack of vocal response from the taller guy beside him, it was pretty obvious that Hyungwon seemed to despise the idea of them being together.
"If you didn't want to be paired up with me you should've been faster to claim Minhyuk as your roommate," Kihyun scoffed, glaring at the latter.
"Hmm" Hyungwon simply hummed back. Hugging his neck with his hands, flinching when another thunder struck, his discomfort going unnoticed to Kihyun's eyes who was uttering vulgar words under his breath.
'He's so cold when it comes to me, I hate him! Dummy.'
The rain— now known to them as a thunderstorm as per what their manager has reported, seems to be getting worse, the loud noise almost unbearable to hear, add to that the thunder roaring at 10,000 decibels (not really) making Hyungwon jolt and whine.
"Fuck." He whispered, shutting his eyes and covering his ears with his hands to mask the sound, which obviously did not work as the next thunder roared accompanied by lightning made him unconsciously turn his body to find refuge in whoever was available, to at that time, was Kihyun.
Kihyun suddenly felt something weigh over his body and he slowly opened his eyes, eyebrows furrowed to see Hyungwon hugging his small waist, the taller was slightly shaking and was hiding his face in the crook of Kihyun's neck, digging deeper until the space between his neck and Hyungwon's face has diminished.
"H-Hey, Hyungwon, what's wrong?" Kihyun worriedly asked, trying to brush off the awkwardness he felt being this close to Hyungwon, to no avail, was left unanswered as the younger continued whining and hugged him tighter. Kihyun felt his eyes soften when he saw how Hyungwon had curled his body up to Kihyun, and he couldn't help but think his bandmate was cute.
Kihyun sat upright, and as expected, Hyungwon's body followed the movement, making him sit upright as well, still hugging his waist.
"Wonnie, hey, tell me what's wrong," Kihyun softly asked, caressing the other's back to help soothe whatever was troubling him right now.
"I-I'm… scared of it" Hyungwon mumbled under his breath, barely audible to Kihyun's ears. "Scared of what?" Another thunder broke out and Kihyun felt the other flinch and hugged his waist tighter, "Ki…" Hyungwon whispered.
And that gave Kihyun the answer to his question.
Hyungwon was afraid of thunder.
If Kihyun was a jerk, he would've laughed at Hyungwon right now, given the other's pitiful state, but he wasn't. Instead, he shifted his position and laid Hyungwon's head on his chest, hugging him tightly and trapping him between his arms to help relax. "This might help you calm down," Kihyun softly whispered, caressing Hyungwon's hair.
Hyungwon felt safe. He scooted closer to Kihyun's embrace and nuzzled his face to Kihyun's chest,finding comfort in the soft hoodie Kihyun was wearing, hoodie that carried Kihyun's scent he smelled every time he inhaled and he found it quite to his liking. "Ki…" Hyungwon called out, lips curving into a light smile.
"What?" He heard the other reply,
"I wanted to be paired up with you, that's why I didn't choose mine because I know you're fine with anyone." Hyungwon confessed, ridding Kihyun of his annoyance earlier. He felt Kihyun's chest heave as the other let out a sigh of relief. And he felt his body being laid back down, still in the warmth of Kihyun's embrace as the other slid his other arm to secure Hyungwon to his chest. Hyungwon feels Kihyun's heartbeat thump faster, practically punching him lightly in the face, and he finds that he doesn't mind it at all.
"Thanks, I really thought you didn't want to," Kihyun replied. He felt Kihyun draw circles on his back,as he rested his chin on Hyungwon's head, scooting closer.
"Are you sure this is still to help me calm down?" Hyungwon teasingly asked, earning him a light slap on the back and Kihyun shoving his arms and moving away from him, "nevermind then." Kihyun grumbled.
"No,wait!" Hyungwon keened and yanked Kihyun's arm towards him to go back to his embrace. "I like it… and the thunder is scary so… don't let go," he softly cooed, like a baby.
Kihyun chuckled at seeing Hyungwon's soft side, and he wished he could see it more often since it was so endearing, and definitely not because it's Hyungwon. Kihyun went back to their previous position and kissed the top of Hyungwon's head. "You should sleep now, I won't let go don't worry," Kihyun reassured, playing with Hyungwon's hair, the gesture having a calming effect on the other as he felt more sleepy.
"Can you sing something?" Hyungwon softly whispered, Kihyun smiled and nodded in adoration for the taller and started singing the song he knew Hyungwon always loved. He sang a few lines only to hear Hyungwon softly snoring and he realized that the taller one had already fallen asleep. He kissed his forehead once more before dozing off to sleep himself, feeling the wave of tiredness hit him after a long day that he was able to completely disregard the loudness of the pouring rain. The thunder still roaring across the valley.
Morning soon came and the sun shone bright through the windows, illuminating the whole place. The rain had stopped sometime in the middle of the night, and all that's left was the puddles outside, and the few drops of water trickling from the roof.
The sunlight shone through Hyungwon and Kihyun's tent, awakening Hyungwon from his deep slumber as the rays of the sun hit his eyes, surprisingly he woke up earlier than Kihyun. The taller smiled as he realized that Kihyun really stayed true to his words that he won't let go of him, as up until that moment, Kihyun's arms surrounded Hyungwon. He moved away from Kihyun who was still fast asleep, careful not to wake him up.
'His arms must be sore right now' Hyungwon apologetically thought, having realized that he had leaned on the other's arm the whole night. He just laid there, staring at the sight in front of him.
Kihyun's sun-kissed face held peace in it. How his rosy lips were slightly parted as his breaths softly escaped from it, how his eyelashes rested on his beautiful rosy cheeks, how his eyebrows were slightly furrowed, and how Hyungwon loved all of it. He found Kihyun beautiful.
'I should wake him up,'Hyungwon thought, and an idea popped up in his head. But how? He has never done nor thought of something like this before, even movies he has watched always had the traditional 'good morning' 'wake up sleepyhead' lines, so how would he do it? Waking someone up with a kiss.
'He wouldn't get mad, would he?' Hyungwon contemplated, staring at the man. 'I mean, what if I'm not his cup of tea?' He contemplated, again.
He decided to shrug those thoughts off and decided to collect the last pieces of confidence he had left and leaned into Kihyun's face, feeling the other's breath hit his face. But that confidence was short-lived as he suddenly hesitated and felt embarrassed with what he was doing right now, just at the moment his lips were nearly touching Kihyun's.
He was going to move away when he suddenly felt hands on his nape and he saw clearly how Kihyun opened his eyes to look straight into his and says,"Well if you won't do it, I will."
Before Hyungwon could even react or reply, Kihyun's lips were already pressed against his and he felt like he was on cloud nine. Kihyun's lips felt so good around his chapped ones and he sighs into the kiss as he responds with the same gentleness Kihyun gives him, threading his fingers in Kihyun's brown locks. Kihyun moves away first and pecks his lips again before burying his face onto Hyungwon's neck and kisses the soft skin lightly. "Good morning Wonnie." Hyungwon could feel Kihyun's smile on his neck and he couldn't help but smile himself.
'What a wonderful way to wake up' both of them thought.
"Morning, slept well?" Hyungwon asked, his turn to ruffle Kihyun's hair, the other nodded. They stayed like that for a while before Kihyun decided that they should probably get up already to start the day. Going out of their tent to be greeted by the Shownu and Changkyun eating their breakfast, while Minhyuk and Jooheon were still asleep. The two joined them to eat and soon, they all started their day as idols again, continuing where they left off the previous day and prepped their way to perfection, ready to show their fans what they had prepared.
Hyungwon and Kihyun feeling less stressed with the events earlier in the morning and carrying off the day with a smile on their face.
