It had been two years since Sayeon joined the Aberrant Corps and two years since she met Ryujin, The Bane of Her Existence. You didn't need to be a part of the Corps to know that Ryujin and Sayeon despised each other. It didn't matter if they were training or not, one could hear their bickering from miles away. Sometimes, it was just that. But every now and again, their squabbling wasn't enough and they'd clash.
Ms. Sang said they were supposed to train their agility; and yet, Sayeon found herself kissing the ground after Ryujin packed a punch to her nose.
Sayeon was laying on the ground, her glasses went flying and probably pierced a kid's eye in the process. The girl coughed and looked back. She could barely see the agitated trainees from the corner of her eye, their hurried whispers surrounded her but she didn't pay any mind, for her attention fell on Ryujin, who was beaming with excitement.
The girl huffed, "guess I'm the most agile here ain't I, Glasses?"
Both her hands were on her pockets, she had an arched eyebrow and even though she couldn't see clearly, Sayeon knew Ryujin had a shit eating grin on her face.
Sayeon narrowed her eyes. She could feel her ears burning and–oh, how she hated that grin. She leaned on her elbows and quickly swept Ryujin's feet with her legs, kept the momentum and stood up gracefully.
Ryujin yelped and her cap fell from her head as she landed on her bottom.
She looked up at Sayeon who kneeled and took the cap in her hands. Sayeon tilted her head and smiled.
"How does it feel like, Ryujin? To be beneath me like this?"
Ryujin's cheeks flushed a deep red and she bit her lip, annoyed.
It was almost amusing.
"Just give me my cap back, bitch."
Sayeon chuckled and put the cap on Ryujin's head. But instead of standing up and walking away, she leaned in closer to her ear.
"I think you look better without it, though."
And with that, she pushed her cap's flap down and walked away.
After their stunt, Ms. Sang started instructing the other trainees and told Sayeon to head to the infirmary - since their fight wasn't exactly planned by her. And as Sayeon was escorted to the infirmary, she could feel her cheeks burning – oh but she couldn't even imagine the state poor Ryujin was in.

A nurse came in to check on Sayeon a while later. She asked a few questions, treated her wounds and left the room as quickly as she came, leaving Sayeon by herself. It didn’t take too long for her friends to come, though, Sayeon could hear Iseul’s chatter from the hallway. The boy stepped inside the infirmary with a bright smile, Min following suit.
“Hey girl! Ryujin really went all out with you back there.” He pouted, putting his hands on his hips.
Min stood by his side, nodding. “Are you alright?”
Sayeon smiled, “don’t worry, guys,” she pointed at the band aid on her chin, “I feel a little sore, but I’ll be better in a few hours.”
Iseul clapped his hands with glee, accidentally making a few medicine flasks float. He was quick to put them down and Sayeon was quick to tease him for it. The three friends chatted and their laughter filled the room, the whole ordeal was almost forgotten when a fourth presence joined them in the infirmary.
Ryujin was standing in the doorway, her face completely overshadowed by the setting sun. Sayeon noticed her and stopped talking mid-sentence; she caught a glimpse of her eyes and she felt a chill run down her spine. She looked utterly pissed off.
Min looked back and stepped away so Ryujin could come in but Iseul hadn't noticed her yet. Irritated, the girl punched the wall, Iseul jumped in surprise and Sayeon could swear she saw his spirit leave his body for a split second before he composed himself. The boy stepped out of Ryujin’s way, stumbling over his own words and biting his tongue in the process.
“Sang wants you two in the courtyard. It's your turn to fight.”
Ryujin didn’t even look at her colleagues as she spoke, her eyes stuck on Sayeon’s.
Iseul seemed a little reluctant to comply, “are you sure you’re not just saying this to beat up Sayeon even more? You know we’re gonna get in trouble for this aren’t y-”
“Oh fuck off, Iseul.” She snapped at him, “get the hell out of here before I punch you myself.”
The boy gulped and looked at Min, who shrugged and walked out. Not wanting to deal with Ryujin’s wrath, Iseul waved goodbye to his friend and left the room.
Ryujin kicked the door closed and walked up to Sayeon who shifted uncomfortably in the infirmary’s bed. She leaned in closer, resting her left hand on the bed and holding Sayeon’s cheek with the other. Her eyes softened and she tilted her head.
“Does it hurt?”
Sayeon huffed, “did you have to be this harsh?”
Ryujin frowned and touched their foreheads, making her cap move out of place.
"Sorry, Glasses. You're just so beautiful that I feel the urge to beat you to a pulp every now and then."
Sayeon pouted, "but now I'm hurting all over and the medicine the nurse gave me wasn't enough to quell the pain…" she looked down, pretending to be hurt.
Immediately, Ryujin jumped back up, ready to leap into action, "what else do you need?"
Sayeon tilted her head, held her chin and hummed thoughtfully before she reached a conclusion.
"Hmm… they do say that kisses make it all better." She grinned at Ryujin's dumbfounded – and beautifully flushed – face, "what about you give me one? Then I'll tell you if it worked."
Ryujin's shoulders relaxed and she laughed, fiddling with her cap, "so that's all you wanted? A kiss?" She leaned in, "you could have just asked, y'know? Didn't need to give me a heart attack."
Sayeon chuckled and tilted her head upwards, their lips barely touching, "oh, but if you don't want to give it to me, I could ask someone els—"
Ryujin interrupted Sayeon with the kiss she wanted so badly. She sucked on her bottom lip and got a delighted sigh from the other woman, who smiled and kissed her back. Sayeon held Ryujin by her tie, keeping her close. Sayeon opened her mouth and let Ryujin's tongue slide in; the girl tasted of cigarettes and bitter coffee. Sayeon didn't complain, though. To her, she tasted great.
Sayeon was running out of breath, so she pulled back. And by the looks of it Ryujin wasn't in a much better state. Her hair was even messier than it was this morning and her face was so hot one might have thought she had a fever. She was panting and her eyes didn't leave Sayeon's lips for even a second.
"Better now?"
Sayeon smiled, "I think I want just one more."
Ryujin chuckled and shook her head, leaning in to kiss Sayeon just one more time. She was still out of breath (damn those cigarettes) so she decided to pepper Sayeon's face full of short kisses instead. The other woman giggled, not letting go of Ryujin's tie as she made her way down her neck. Her breathing got more harboured as Ryujin stopped kissing and started sucking.
"Ryu… t-this is wrong."
"You're the one who asked for it."
Ryujin chose a spot between her neck and shoulder and sucked in hard. Sayeon closed her eyes and let out a breathless moan, tightening her grip on Ryujin's tie. But as soon as she opened her eyes again, she saw two figures coming closer to the infirmary.
In a panic, she pushed Ryujin off her just as Iseul blasted the infirmary's doors open.
"Hey guys we just finished Sang's training and–" he noticed the state the two girls were in and pointed at them, confused, "what were you girls doing?"
Sayeon and Ryujin looked at him, then at each other, then the position they were in. Sayeon was still holding on to Ryujin's tie and they were way too flushed to not be suspicious.
Without any other plan, Sayeon quickly pulled Ryujin by her tie and scowled, "can't you see? This dumbass punched me in the face and I'm fuming with anger."
Ryujin blinked in surprise at Sayeon's harsh words, but her chest felt lighter when she saw Sayeon winking, so she played along.
She huffed, "well then, you ungrateful asshole," she pulled back and straightened her tie, "I just came here to give you your stupid glasses anyways," Ryujin took out a pair of red glasses from her pocket and handed them to Sayeon dismissively.
She started walking out of the infirmary, head held up high despite the fact that her cheeks were a dark shade of red, "you don't need to thank me or anything. I'm going out for a smoke."
And without much of a ceremony or even a proper goodbye, she was out.
"What's the deal with her?" Iseul asked, incredulous.
Min, who was standing there the whole time, didn't answer. He didn't know either.
"Well, no matter. Come eat with us, Sayeon!" Iseul beamed, the previous topic completely forgotten about, "Min was up against me last round and I simply need to tell you about how he handed my ass back to me!"
Iseul sounded just so excited to talk about being beat up that Sayeon couldn't help but laugh too. She put her glasses on, grateful that Ryujin gave them back. She needed to thank her later tonight.
Sayeon walked out of the infirmary with the boys, too deep in her conversation with Iseul to give Min a chance to ask about the hickey on her neck.
