Work Text:
„Here we go.“ The hotel clerk typed into her computer. With an enthusiastic flourish she smashed the enter button on her keyboard. Finally, a pair of honey-colored eyes left her screen to find the two guests standing on the other side of her reception. It was a small hotel, sitting snugly at the foot of Mount Fuji, with a wonderful scene of the snow-covered tip of the mountain painted on the wall behind her. In front of her, the two guests in question were well-known faces, not because they had stayed here before, but because they were famous.
The number one hero, Endeavor, and next to him looking short and slight in comparison, the number two, Hawks. Patiently they were waiting for her to send them to their respective rooms, so they could dump their luggage and finally start the investigation they had teamed up for.
Her eyes turned back to the screen, then to the men in front of her. She looked uncertain.
Hawks almost felt a little sorry for her, knowing the cause of her confusion.
As if deciding from one second to the other that yes, she was reading the information on her screen correctly, the clerk snatched a small booklet from her drawer, containing two keycards. “That’s room 11 for you,” she said as she slid the keycards over the reception. “We serve breakfast between 6:00 and 9:30. If you require room service or anything else from us, you can reach us via the phone in your room dialing 001.”
Hawks took the booklet from the reception. He flipped it open, checked that there were really two cards inside. They were of a baby blue, the number of their room and an emergency phone number printed on top. Inside the booklet he also found some additional information about the hotel and the notoriously generic WiFi password.
Throughout his exploration, Endeavor didn’t move a finger.
Finally, when the clerk had long stopped talking and was now looking at them, clearly expecting them to either leave or ask a question, he raised his voice. “And the other room?”
The poor lady blinked. She looked back at her screen, the same information she had evidently already read a dozen times before deciding that no, her eyes hadn’t deceived her. “The other…?” she muttered and made sure once again that no, she hadn’t made a mistake. “It just says one room.”
A small tick in Endeavor’s brow made her check a third time. “Two guests for five nights. One room.” As if to prove that she wasn’t making it up she turned the desktop a little bit, so that Hawks could read what she was pointing at, when he leaned forward a bit. Endeavor did not look at it.
“I was sure, we had ordered…” His eyes slid sideways, lingering on Hawks for a moment, before he swallowed his objection. “Is it possible to change now?”
Realizing the awkwardness of the situation—she had, after all, noticed it the second she first saw the information on screen, likely checking with the latest hero gossip in her head, if there was any information about Hawks and Endeavor being closer than just colleague—her cheeks turned a soft pink, as she shook her head. “I’m sorry, but I fear we are booked out completely, tonight.” Hastily, she added, “it’s the summer season, I’m afraid.” When Endeavor did not respond immediately, her voice switched to placating. She was nervous, that much was clear, and Hawks was terribly sorry for putting her through this. He would’ve already explained the situation if he had reason to think Endeavor would get rude. Thankfully, nobody was quite as stoic at accepting unexpected or uncomfortable situations as Endeavor was. Though he was staring at the young lady, waiting for her to offer a solution, he was neither loud nor outwardly angry. “We will have a free room after the weekend. If you want, we can resettle you on Sunday afternoon.”
Endeavor seemed to consider that. For a moment, he looked like he had to think entirely too hard about such a simple decision. Then with the expression of a man forced to bear a twenty-hour long rerun of his least favorite TV-show, and the acceptance of a man realizing that any strategy to get around it would not be worth the effort, he closed his eyes, took a heavy inhale through flaring nostrils, and shook his head. “That won’t be necessary.”
After all, they’d leave again on Tuesday. By Sunday, not only would they have already spent three nights together, even more so, they had a villain to catch and no matter how unfavorable the shared room might seem to Endeavor, he would not pause his mission just to move into a different hotel room in the middle of a busy weekend. What was the point of arriving a day in advance if they still had all the stress of repacking and moving on Sunday?
The poor woman still looked uncertain. “Are you sure?” Clearly, she was thinking of the shock the man would get, once he opened the door to room 11 and saw that not only would they be sharing a room… “If you should decide differently…”
He only stared at her as if to say Why would I change my mind? “Well.” Eventually, he turned and took one of the keycards from Hawks’ booklet, flipped it in his hands, and, as if now he feared other aspects of their reservations might have gotten lost, he promptly looked at the clerk again. “You received our request, about room service?”
She seemed surprised at first, then with a glance at her screen she nodded. “Room service will only enter your room with your express permission, of course.”
“Good.” He nodded. Then nodded again. Then he thought of something else. “And the Wifi Password?”
She could just tell him to ask Hawks, but maybe she was just so glad that the two most prominent guests the hotel ever had in this hotel didn’t make a scene over a supposed reservation error, that she didn’t even consider pointing Endeavor elsewhere for the answer. “It’S FujiM0t0 H0tel. With zeroes for the O’s.
Yeah…Generic.
Unlike Hawks, Endeavor didn’t seem the least bit bothered by it. As if he feared to otherwise forget it, he painstakingly typed it into his phone, even though Hawks did not know why he even bothered. He knew well enough, that tomorrow, first thing in the morning, Endeavor would waste some five minutes trying to set up his WiFi before he would look at Hawks long and miserable enough—without actually asking for help, of course—until Hawks would mercifully do it for him. Still, that didn’t even seem to occur to Enji now, so, when he finished typing it out, he bowed ever so slightly and finally, Hawks got to lead him to where he had already seen the signs for the stairs.
Room eleven was on the first floor, to the west side of the building, so they would have sun light until late into the evening and not be bothered by the light in their faces first thing in the morning. Hawks had picked the room well. An advantage of booking well in advance.
When he opened the door, Endeavor was still looking a little frustrated by the whole mishap with their reservations. On the stairs he was groaning like an old man, and as the door swung open and he saw the single king-sized bed just opposite the curtain covered balcony door, he sighed like a man awaiting his execution. Still, he entered the room without protest or even hesitation. He was, after all, not a man to complain about such minor things.
Of course, Endeavor’s unhappiness ought to be forgiven. After all, he had indeed been more than clear in his reservations. Two rooms, preferably next two each other, individual bathrooms, a WiFi connection—as if there were still hotels in this day and age without them—and 24h open reception, just in case. No, Endeavor’s requests had been more than clear. His mistake was trusting the wrong person with typing it into the form on the hotel website.
After all, Hawks had little interest in spending his five days in a holiday resort near Mount Fuji—even if they came here for work, because by God, it was hard to convince Endeavor to take a vacation—with his favorite person on the planet separated by a single wall. No, he’d much rather forget to tick a tiny box and thus get rid of the wall. A simple problem with a simple solution.
And with every other man, it might have caused a scene. With every other man, Hawks might not have dared, fearing for the nerves of the poor hotel employees forced to bear the news of the supposedly faulty reservation. But with Endeavor…the man had taken worse news without complaint.
Trying to hide his excitement at how well his little scheme had worked so far, Hawks quickly wheeled his luggage to the far side of the bed. Then, following a sudden instinct, he pulled the covers away. He had to check. Had to make sure, that the hotel didn’t just give him one bed with two mattresses. The wide crack between them would make his plans…well, it wouldn’t ruin them, but it would make it a whole lot more uncomfortable for whoever would be lying below—Endeavor he hoped, he didn’t know if his hollow bones could take the man’s weight pummeling him into the cushions.
Indeed, just as he had hoped, below a burgundy red covering, just a few shades darker than Endeavor’s hair, Hawks revealed a single gigantic foam mattress. When he sat on it, it was just a bit harder than his own at home, just a bit too hard to be perfect, but he didn’t mind, as he didn’t really intend to spend most of his nights on the mattress. Not exactly, at least. Not directly. Of course, his plans were far from becoming reality, but with the first hurdle so smoothly taken, his dream of five nights buried in strong arms, with a big hunk of perfection between him and the mattress, came just a bit closer.
As Hawks reveled in his dreams, Endeavor dragged fingers through his hair as if the sight of the mattress now, was finally too much. Heavily he sunk on his end of it, putting enough weight on it, that the mattress lifted a bit on Hawks’ end lifting the lighter body ever so slightly. “This is rather unfortunate,” he grumbled. The baritone of his voice did not reveal entirely if by unfortunate he meant truly awful or just a tiny bit inconvenient.
Hawks truly hoped it was the latter. He had made precautions and preparations to make this happen, but he didn’t want to force his idol to do something he really didn’t want to do. It was obvious to Hawks that Endeavor had not even thought about this scenario being even an option, and Hawks had not expected him to jump happily at the revelation of their changed situation, but he didn’t intend for him to hate it either. If Endeavor really, really, really did not like it, in the end, Hawks still had the option of making himself a nest with his feathers and sleeping on the floor. He hoped it wouldn’t come to that.
“It’s not that bad,” he said cheerfully, sitting more toward the center of the mattress and stretching his feet out to test the not-quite-perfect hardness of the mattress. “We have more than enough space.” Of course, he didn’t use the opportunity to warn his colleague, about his tendency to spread himself wide during the night.
Endeavor did not reply. He stood and lifted his duffel bag on the bed. Opening the zipper, he spread a variation of way too many black polo shirts and cord and jeans pants and a single good suit across the mattress, before neatly packing them away in the closet, leaving one half of it free for Hawks’ clothes. He even went through the effort of hanging his evening suit and two spare hero costumes on coat hangers, before sliding them all the way to the side, hanging his jacket there too and again, leaving enough space for Hawks.
Hawks watched curiously, feeling somewhat flustered, because he had no intention of going through the effort of unpacking for just a few days. He was used to living out of his trunk during trips like these. While Endeavor neatly folded his duffle bag in on itself and hid it under the bed, Keigo had put his trunk right next to the bed, and he had not intended to move it away from there again, for the next five days.
He was also still a bit nervous, that apart from calling it unfortunate, Endeavor had not yet commented on their bed situation.
“It is not that bad,” he said again. “And if you want, I can sleep on the ground.” He decided to just offer outright, to give Endeavor the option.
Endeavor emerged from where he had been crouching to put his bag away. When his head appeared from behind bed, he looked rather confused by the offer. “Why would you sleep on the ground?”
Hawks realized that it sounded a lot more dramatic than he had intended for it to sound. “I mean on my feathers. It’s pretty comfortable when I build a nest like that. I do it sometimes at home, too.” It wasn’t strictly true. He had a great, comfy bed at home. But he had done it many times during odd jobs out of town, finding building a nest much cheaper and more comfortable than most hotels. It was not that he was poor, but he was used to putting money aside, just in case. He had grown up starving after all. Wasting money now when it wasn’t necessary was not something he liked to do. This hotel too, if it weren’t for the prospect of five nights with Endeavor and Endeavor footing half of the bill, it would probably have been too expensive.
To demonstrate, he let a few of his feathers form a small nest on the bed, before ordering them back to his wings.
Endeavor had watched quietly. As if he still didn’t understand, he climbed back to his feet, checked his watch, decided that, yes, it was pretty late and turned back to his closet to pull out a navy blue pajama shirt. Just the shirt. No pants. Hawks would’ve rejoiced to find out that the number one hero slept naked. He didn’t, but sleeping without pants other than his underwear, he thought, was still better than a full suit.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Endeavor finally grumbled, looking unimpressed with Hawks’ quick nest-building skills. With a slow gaze over the mattress, he added, “as you said, it’s big enough.”
Relieved, Hawks’ shoulders slumped. “Yeah. Just wanted to offer. I don’t want it to be uncomfortable.”
Red brows furrowed. “Uncomfortable.” Endeavor tested the word on his tongue. As if he had not just called it unfortunate, and had seemed rather upset earlier. Then again, Hawks had already noticed, that he’d been unable to read the level of Endeavor’s frustration. “The mattress seems perfectly fine.” There was a small pause. “And this is hardly the first time, I’m sharing the bed with a man.”
Hawks did a double take. He was rightly staring at the man who just dropped this bombshell in the middle of an otherwise quiet room. Momentarily, Hawks was disturbed by the fact that the duvet hadn’t promptly caught fire. He couldn’t just say that! Not with such a casual tone.
Worse, even…Hawks was jealous. Who were these men? How had they achieved it? Could he learn from them?
“What did I say?” Endeavor asked when Hawks couldn’t stop staring.
“You slept with a man before?” His voice was barely even audible. He was wheezing from shock.
Endeavor blinked, surprised. “You didn’t?” He turned to pick a towel and his bathroom utensils from his nightstand, then with all of it and his pajama shirt in one arm, he stood to his full height. He looked as if he was talking about the most normal thing in the world. Which was quite surprising, because Hawks of course hadn’t taken Endeavor for a bigot, but he hadn’t thought him to be quite so cavalier about it either. Not a bigot…but maybe a prude. It seemed, thar he was neither. “It happens.”
But Hawks could not imagine such a thing just happening. To Endeavor least of all. Endeavor, who was hot, yes, but not a people person at all.
“Who?” He…Well…he was jealous. Incredibly so.
Endeavor seemed entirely unbothered by the intrusiveness of his questions, yet a bit concerned about why Hawks was even so curious about something he clearly seemed to think a common matter.
“You wouldn’t know most of them.” Most? “Snatch, Riot, some of our other classmates. Kido, mostly.” Hawks felt like he was short circuiting. The other two he named were dead. Heroes from Endeavor’s UA class. Hawks still couldn’t believe what he was hearing, but he wasn’t as desperate to be jealous of dead men. Kido, though…
“You and…Kido?” It wasn’t just jealousy. It was disappointment too. He truly hadn’t thought Endeavor the kind to take advantage of his own employees like that.
Endeavor shrugged. “He’s been with me the longest. Especially in the beginning, we didn’t really have the money for single rooms and during busy weeks, we had to sleep in the agency,” he explained himself, though Hawks wasn’t asking for details. He was about to slam his palms over his ears and yell at him to stop, because, yes, he had asked for it, but he really didn’t want any details. Before he could do so, though, Endeavor stopped explaining.
Hawks was so confused by the anticlimactic end of the explanation, that he asked again, despite just realizing he didn’t want to know.
“And what?”
Endeavor blinked, clueless what Hawks was on about. “And what?”
“What?” Hawks was unable to formulate a full sentence. Still feeling a sickly mixture of envy, shock and disapproval, he stuttered incoherently. “You—Kido. Employee…I don’t…advantage?”
Something he said made Endeavor scowl. “I wasn’t always rich. I didn’t have the money, and my first office was a single room with just a couch to catch some shut eye.” Had he interpreted Hawks stuttering as a reproach for Endeavor being cheap…rather than for Endeavor having sex with an employee?
Hawks’ frustration got the better of him. “How does that explain that you slept with your employee?” He wasn’t even truly angry, just disappointed, and blindsided. If Endeavor had more smoothly led him into this information, or if he had heard of the story any other way or any other time—preferably when he was not currently planning five sexy nights with his favorite human—Hawks wouldn’t have made such a scene.
“Was I supposed to tell him to just sleep on the ground?” Endeavor asked, uncomprehending.
Oh…Oh?
Wait…
Was it possible that not Endeavor had been the one to not get it, but Hawks?
“You mean…you just…slept with him?”
Endeavor scoffed. “I just said that.”
“I mean…just sleeping.”
The stupid, innocent fool. Hawks meaning went entirely over his head. Realizing that there was a disconnect visibly frustrated him. “I just…” he blinked. Blinked again. Suddenly, his cheeks turned very pink, as he found Hawks’ eyes. The younger hero nodded, to quietly convey that yes, very likely, they were now finally on the same page.
Immediately, blue eyes turned away. He coughed, then fled into the bathroom.
Great…
Awesome!
He could’ve done this a lot more smoothly. Lead into his conversation rather than stupidly stumble upon it and completely surprise the other party. It was clear now, that even when he had seen the king-sized bed, even with the prospect of sharing it with Hawks for a few days…in just a few short hours…even then, Endeavor had not once considered that their bed-sharing might lead to anything more than that.
It had not even been on his mind.
Hawks was not certain if that was not a crueler revelation than thinking that Endeavor might have found the prospect of physical intimacy with him unfortunate. Thinking that Endeavor had thought about sleeping with him—not jut sleeping next to him—had upset him but at least he had considered it, had been saddening. Learning, that he had not even imagined anything happening between them, that it had been so far from his horizon that the possibility didn’t even occur to him…
The night that was supposed to be the single greatest night of his life, only to be eclipsed by the one following after and the one following after that, until they could drive home well-rested and well-fucked, promised to be a terrible, long torture of wasted opportunities and disappointed hopes. And he had no way out of it. The hotel remained as booked out now, as it had been when Endeavor asked about switching rooms, then.
Quietly, he put his own pajamas on, happy now, that he had thought of taking them with him as precaution, even when he had planned to spend the whole five nights butt naked and anything but asleep. Now, he had thorough need of them, fearing, that despite the disappointment, sleeping so close to his crush would get him horny and hard, as reliably as his most expensive Endeavor-themed toy.
He heard the toilet flush, then the tab run for a short while, before Endeavor emerged from the bathroom, wearing only a shirt reaching just past his hips, revealing legs…Legs for days. They were long and as powerful and well-formed as he had expected. Truly, he had seen their shape a dozen times, the hero costume leaving little to the imagination. Seeing them like this, though, bare, covered in soft pink fluff and with all the scars visible to the naked eye, it was…quite something else. Endeavor’s bare feet padded back to the bed. He pulled the duvet back, crawled below the covers and waited.
“I’m done in the bathroom,” he announced awkwardly, when Hawks didn’t jump to brush his teeth immediately.
Unmotivated, Hawks grabbed his stuff, and left for the bathroom. Inside, he splashed a lot of water in his face, determined that if he were to cry just a little bit, Endeavor was not supposed to see it in the corners of his eyes. He brushed his teeth and drank a cup of water from the toothbrush cup. In the main room, he crawled into bed, turned the lights off and waited.
For what, he had no idea. But one thing was for sure, he would not be able to sleep now.
Outside the sun had set, but the sky was not fully dark yet. It was light enough to see Endeavor’s shape next to him. In terms of their sleeping habits, it seemed they were the polar opposite. As even now, even feeling awkward and tiny, Hawks could not help flapping his wings out and occupying the full fifty percent of the mattress he was entitled to, Endeavor was curled into himself, on the far edge. He had three times Hawks body mass yet did not occupy half as much space on the mattress.
As long, torturous hours passed, Hawks didn’t even notice how he slowly took in more and more of the space, conquering it inch by inch until eventually he fund his nose almost touching Endeavor’s back. He scooted back a bit then. Not quite far enough to be restrained to his half again, but far enough that Endeavor would not feel his erection poke into his hip when it would inevitably grow on him.
Endeavor’s breath rumbled. Hawks had thought him asleep, but clearly, he was as unable to get rest as Hawks was. Slowly he rolled on his side, almost crushing Hawks’ wing under him.
“Did you want to?”
“Hm?”
Hawks didn’t know what he was referring to. The last words they had shared were an awkward “good night,” and before that, Endeavor telling Hawks that he could use the bathroom. Before that…
“Sleep with me, I mean.”
He said it in a different tone. Different than how he had used the phrase earlier, when speaking of Kido. With me…not simply next to me.
Hawks had no clue what to say to that. Of course, he had wanted to…meant to even. He had planned for it. Had even taken a pair of plush covered cuffs and a butt plug in case Endeavor would be willing to go further. Be a bit adventurous. At his pace, of course.
Only, it had turned out, Endeavor’s pace meant not at all.
Yes, he had wanted to. He was embarrassed to admit it now.
“Why would I want to—” Lying felt wrong. Felt bad. He wanted to take it back, yet feared he’d only embarrass himself further.
“I thought about it,” Endeavor admitted. “And I can’t come up with a different reason, for why you’d mess with the reservation.”
He had chosen to go for denial. He might as well go all in. “Why would I mess with the reservation?”
Endeavor made a strangled noise. As if he meant to say something but couldn’t quite find the words.
“You think I did it on purpose?” He was fully committed to the lie now.
Endeavor was silent. Hawks could practically hear him scowl. He didn’t appreciate being lied to. It made Hawks only more desperate.
“Seriously, you can’t think I’d do that just to…” But to finish the sentence would be treason. He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t mock his dreams like that.
“To sleep with me.”
He was grateful for the night. It covered his reaction well. He didn’t even know if he turned beet red or paper white. Both seemed appropriate. “Why would you think that?” His voice was…pathetically weak.
“I couldn’t come up with another explanation.” Hawks had no better excuse ready, so he remained silent. “And it seemed like it was on your mind…earlier.” He couldn’t even feasibly deny it.
“It was an honest mistake.”
Endeavor was cruel. Cruel, and unwilling to give up. Ever stubborn, determined to get to the truth. “Did you want to sleep with me?”
“Endeavor…”
“Did you?”
“Yes.”
Now, that it was finally out, it was like a weight off his chest. Replaced almost immediately by the even heavier one, waiting for Endeavor’s reaction. Dread. Truly, facing the League of Villains, all of them at once, was not as terrifying as waiting for whatever Endeavor would next say.
“Do you still want to?” he asked after a long, painfully endless pause.
“You don’t need to worry…”
“Do you still want to?”
He was unrelenting.
Hawks allowed all air to leave his lungs. Trembling, he took a deep breathe. In for a penny, in for a pound. There was no turning back. “Yes.”
“Okay.”
Okay?
“What?”
“What do you mean?”
“Endeavor.”
But the man was quiet.
For a long while, he kept Hawks thinking that it was over. Their conversation. Any chance he might have still had with the only man on the planet he had ever loved. The trust they had shared—far more important than a few nights of hot sex. The greatest waste of his life, to lose the most precious bond, to lose Endeavor’s trust…for the sake of his gluttonous penis.
“How do you want to do it?”
Was he dreaming? Had he fallen asleep and was now imagining? Was that really Endeavor’s voice? But the low hum was unmistakable, the way it was born from his chest, rose through his lungs and was formed and perfected in his mouth. It made the small hairs in Hawks’ hair vibrate sweetly, soothingly.
“What?”
The whole mattress shook when he moved. Heavily, he slid on his side, rolling with one shoulder on a bunch of Hawks feathers without noticing, and looked at Hawks through the now fully dark night. Or at, where he thought Hawks might be. It was only Hawks’ mutant eyes that still allowed him to see anything at all. Endeavor, he suspected, was fully blind now. Maybe that gave him courage, made him more daring.
Or maybe, Hawks was truly dreaming.
“How did you want do it?”
When Hawks had no answer ready, and prepared, fully formed to lay at Endeavor’s feet to beg him to allow him to touch him, to kiss him, to fuck him, Endeavor spoke again.
“I never did it before. Sleep with a man. Like that, I mean.”
Hawks’ head was spinning.
“Do you want to?”
The question was entirely unnecessary. In a way, Endeavor has long made his intent clear. Much more so than Hawks, even.
“I’ve thought about it.”
“Do you want to?”
Admitting it outright seemed to take some courage that Endeavor had to find, first. He took his sweet time to respond. Hawks was already about to ask again, when:
“Yes.”
“Can I kiss you?”
Endeavor leaned forward slightly. Hawks’ lips were almost level with Endeavor’s sternum, yet, having scooted down on the mattress a lot. Endeavor was not aware of it. He was truly blind, as he sought Hawks’ lips where they weren’t. Guiding him, Hawks put his hands on his face, leading him downward.
“Let’s start that way,” he whispered, when Endeavor was close enough that Hawks was sure he could feel his breath on his jaw.
“Sounds good to me—” Endeavor smiled, yet if he wanted to say more than that, Hawks couldn’t say, as in that moment, he muffled any further words with his lips. A first, tentative kiss. Barely a brush of dry lips. Hawks wet them with his tongue, before he kissed him a second time, more intimate then. With just a tad more force. Just enough that Endeavor knew he wanted more than just a kiss.
When they separated, Endeavor moved slightly back. Somewhat upset, worried that Endeavor might not have liked it, Hawks watched as Endeavor twisted his arm out from under his torso and grabbed for something on his nightstand. His…his watch?
“It’s past midnight,” he said, matter-of-factly. Hawks didn’t get why that was important.
“So?”
He…well, he was annoyed. He couldn’t fathom, why Endeavor would care about the time now.
Oblivious to his bedmate’s frustrated scowl in the dark, Endeavor turned back to him. “We have to be up by six tomorrow. And we should get at least five hours of sleep.”
Fuck him and his workaholism. Fuck him and his stupid priorities. Fuck him!
Hawks really wanted to do it.
And now Endeavor wanted to pull back? After pushing him so far, giving him such a sweet taste of what could be, a promise of something more?
“So, you say we shouldn’t…?” he grumbled unhappily.
“No.” Endeavor sounded confused. “I’m just saying we don’t have forever.”
Was he…saying what Hawks thought he was saying? Certainly, Hawks’ cock thought so. Endeavor’s plea to pick up the pace went right into Hawks’ groin. Better than porn. Better than drugs. Just Endeavor, telling him to speed it up a little and get the fucking going before it was nappy time for the big hero.
“You’re impatient,” Hawks pulled him closer again, smacked his lips on top of his and really savored the taste of them for the first time.
“Unless you only want to kiss me,” Endeavor groaned into his mouth. “If that’s all—"
Hawks mercilessly used the opportunity to shove his tongue between parted lips, sucking up whatever words were still unformed inside his throat. He could feel Endeavor’s surprise at having his mouth suddenly invaded like that. The clueless way Endeavor’s tongue didn’t fully respond to the kiss, the clumsiness, with which he opened his jaw just a little wider as if trying to swallow Hawks whole, made Hawks wonder if he had not only never slept with a man before, not kissed a man like that, but not even kissed his wife like it either.
That fool. The way he had played with Hawks, teased him, straight up challenged him…when he hadn’t even done this before. When he was as innocent as a forty-year-old blushing old maiden. A gullible, clueless giant, begging Hawks to show him a whole new world.
And Hawks would.
With pleasure.
Of course, he would.
Because Endeavor was right. He did not just mean to kiss him.
