Scott was sitting on his bed, ready to tuck in for the night when the door to his house opened.
Instantly he was on alert. Nightgowns weren’t the best thing to wear while fending off intruders, but he would have to make do. Scott always kept his staff by his bed just in case, so he grabbed it in preparation. Whoever this was hadn’t knocked, so they were either an intruder or someone who thought they wouldn’t need to announce their presence. But it was too late at night for most visitors. Pyro had already left, and he would have knocked.
He heard the ladder creak as the person made their way closer to the bedroom. Scott stood near the door, waiting for them to creep closer. Soon they were hovering just outside the doorway, within range. Scott started the incantation when-
“Scott?”
Scott instantly dropped his staff. “Nom! You need to warn me next time! I thought you were a stranger.”
Nom came into the pale moonlight. His face was anything short of tired. His tail was lashing back and forth agitatedly, and Scott instinctively took a step forward to settle him. “Couldn’t sleep.” Nom said.
“I’m sorry.” Scott replied sympathetically. Nom had that problem sometimes. He was always hung up on one thing or another, and had learned that Scott was a good person to talk to about his feelings. And he was a good cuddler. “Do you want-“
“Yes.” Nom interjected. He practically dragged Scott to the bed and while Scott adjusted the covers, he took off his armor. It caught the moonlight, making the metal look almost otherworldly. A strange, unwelcome presence in the room.
They both got into bed, and Nom pulled Scott into him, hugging Scott’s back against his chest. Scott was a little surprised, since usually he preferred to lay face to face. His breathing was harsh but deep, his chest rising and falling and taking Scott with it.
“You’re really worked up, aren’t you?” Scott tried to lean back best he could to nuzzle further into him.
Nom buried his face into Scott’s hair and groaned. “Mhm.” Scott said, rhythmically rubbing Nom’s knuckles with his thumbs. “I know Pyro being here probably stressed you out a little.”
Personally, seeing Pyro again was the highlight of Scott’s month. Among the tensions and grief, it was nice to just hang out with an old friend. Nom didn’t seem to have the same joy Scott did, though. He spent most of his time glowering in the orc’s general direction. Especially when Pyro got a little… touchy.
Scott didn’t mind it when Pyro gave him giant hugs, or lifted him by the scruff to help him cross a crumbling bridge, or kept a hand on his wrist or waist. None of it felt malicious, or even flirtatious. Pyro was just a hands-on person and Scott had never asked him to stop and had never gotten uncomfortable.
Honestly, Scott could use someone like that in his life. He found himself wanting a hug now more than ever, or to be carried like he was a little sprout again. For all his strengths, touch did not come easily to Nom in the same way. To the knight, every point of contact had to have purpose and meaning. And Scott loved that about him, but it was also nice to surround himself with people who hugged as easily as they breathed.
Nom kissed Scott’s hair, and Scott leaned into it further. Then he moved to Scott’s ear. It made him grab Nom’s arm a little tighter. “Nom?” Scott asked as he moved down further still. Kissing the back of his neck and moving an arm up to bracket Scott’s shoulders instead of just his waist. “You have to ask before you- hey!” Nom had sunk his teeth into the meat of Scott’s neck and was digging in further.
The moment Nom drew back, Scott rolled over so he could face him. “Have you tried asking nicely?” Nom was kissing the lace edge of his nightgown and didn’t seem to be paying attention.
“What’s this about?” Scott knew Nom was usually better about permission. He liked to ease his way into a scene, or give up control entirely. This was maybe the one time he let himself go. But he didn’t seem in the mood for either of those things now. “Did Pyro set you off?” Scott teased. “Is the big bad Nom jealous?”
“No.” Nom said, sounding a little too forceful. Scott laughed. “But you smell like him!”
“Because he hugged me a lot, not because we kissed in some dark alley.” Nom gave Scott a look. “Seriously! Even if we wanted to bed, they’re a little too…” Scott trailed off.
“Too…”
Scott’s face burned. “Um. Big.”
For a second, Nom looked offended. “And I’m not?”
Scott recovered enough to get out: “Nom, love, he’s an eight foot orc.”
“Ah. Yeah.” Nom had the grace to look a little sheepish, then he went right back to pressing Scott against him. “I don’t know what it was. But I didn’t want him near you at all.”
Scott sighed. “That sounds like jealousy to me. Thanks for not attacking him or anything though.”
“I thought about it.” Nom’s hands were under his nightgown now and beginning to hike it up.
“Let me sit up, I’ll get it.” Scott began to do just that when there were hands on his.
“I want to do it.” Nom had sat up as well and was looking at Scott with something possessive in his eyes. Like he was a piece of treasure, something fragile to be protected.
Scott wouldn’t consider himself fragile. He had experienced more hardship these past few months than some people did in a lifetime. But maybe he did want someone to offer to help him out of his nightgown every once in a while. Even if they both knew damn well that Nom’s hands would rip the fabric.
“You get yourself ready, I’ve got it.” Scott said kindly, pulling his hands out of Nom’s grip. Thankfully, Nom didn’t press the matter and instead was taking off his underclothes while Scott got up from the bed to hang up his nightgown. He wasn’t just going to let it lie on the floor! How would he be able to give his full attention to Nom if he was fretting about wrinkles?
They were both consistently pretty awkward at the start of any intimacy, shared inexperience and hesitation mixing into a hot mess of foreplay that never seemed to work. If Scott had the energy, he would have gotten gold to drape himself with so he could play with Nom’s dragon instincts, or worked up the courage to get lingerie. But he was too busy with war and magic and everything else that stood in their way.
They hadn’t even talked about what they were yet. Partners? Were they anything at all? Scott was a little too nervous to ask, but considering Nom didn’t seem to want Scott being with anyone else, they should at least talk about it.
Scott sort of wanted them to be more official. He hadn’t been with anyone else since Nom had fallen into his bed. Not out of any sort of commitment to one person, it was just that nobody else had interested him that way. Including Pyro.
Nom watched Scott sit back down on the bed, tail swishing back and forth and messing up the blankets. His eyes were roaming Scott’s body as though drinking it in. He always did that no matter how many times he saw it. The moment Scott got settled, Nom had hands on him, guiding his head to rest against the pillows.
Usually, Scott would have asked about what Nom wanted from him, but right now he had a feeling he would learn as they went. So he just laid against the pillows and watched as Nom grabbed his thighs and spread his legs. Without preamble, he slid a finger into Scott’s hole, but his eyes were fixed on Scott’s face, testing his reactions. Scott had gotten aroused enough that he had gotten somewhat wet, and was certainly getting wetter. Nom pumped the finger in and out, adding a second one and spreading them.
Scott moaned as Nom curled his fingers, grabbing the blankets and gripping them, since Nom wasn’t currently in range of his hands. A third finger was pushed in, and Scott felt himself becoming even more of a mess.
“I think I’m-” Scott was cut off by his own groan. “I’m prepped.”
Nom kept going, mouth moving down as well to bite into his inner thigh, no doubt leaving marks. At least these ones would be easier to hide even if they would make it hard to walk tomorrow. Then his fingers eased out of Scott and his head was back up, staring at Scott’s face. He knew he must look like quite a sight, eyes about to well over with tears, ears and face completely flush.
“You,” Nom kissed Scott’s stomach. “Are the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”
“I bet you say that to all the mages.” Scott laughed quietly.
“Only if the mage is you.” Nom lined himself up, and Scott inhaled deeply as he slowly pressed in. Only the head was in and it still felt like so much. Noms hands were on his thighs and Scott was gripping the headboard for better balance.
“Fuck- Nom-” Scott panted. He didn’t understand why Nom was being so insecure about Pyro being big because he really did have the whole package.
Nom kept going until he bottomed out, leaving Scott feeling full to the brim. His cock was rubbing against all the spots that made Scott moan. It was euphoria like nothing he’d ever known.
Scott clenched instinctively as Nom began to thrust into him. By now, he knew how to angle himself so he could hit the spots that made Scott see stars. And right now, he was almost animalistic in the way he moved. Like he needed to know he could make Scott feel good, to know he could conquer and take as he pleased.
One of his hands had made its way to Scott’s clit, fondling it as Scott felt himself winding ever tauter, teetering on the edge. Nom seemed close as well, moaning and panting, muttering to himself. “Safe. Mine. Stay.” He didn’t seem to be able to get much out, but Scott caught those three words.
“Yours.” Scott replied breathlessly, and that seemed to send Nom right over the edge. He buried himself to the hilt as he came, making Scott moan in response. He felt Nom’s knot swelling at the base of his cock but instead of pulling out like he usually did, he rutted in further, making Scott’s hole stretch around it until it popped in. It settled right over Scott’s sweet spot, making him whine. Nom grinded in response, which sent Scott over the edge. He came with a cry of Nom’s name, clenching around him, which made more cum gush into him.
They both stayed there, panting and sweaty. Locked together by a knot. Nom shifted, making Scott whine in overstimulation. Nom just petted his hair in response as he settled at Scott’s side. “I don’t think we’re going anywhere, huh?”
“I guess not.” Scott pulled Nom closer. “Now if you don’t mind, I’m gonna go to sleep.”
“Mhm.” Nom muttered drowsily. He seemed to have gotten all the frustration out of his system. Scott was glad, it meant a peaceful night for him.
“‘Night.” Scott said, and watched as Nom’s eyes closed and his breathing slowly evened out. Sleep didn’t stop him from gripping onto Scott like he was going to slip through his fingers.
“And don’t worry,” Scott whispered, even though Nom couldn’t hear him. “I’m not leaving you. Not ever.”
