Summary
The Richards family has been a big name in international show jumping for generations. Bilbo Baggins grew up riding with Nori Richards in the young rider’s division and now rides and trains full time at Brandywine River Stables, the Richard’s venerable estate. Dori was born with a few of the wrong bits but now that her overly judgmental mother and emotionally abusive step-father are dead from a car crash and a truly amazing plastic surgeon has helped her express her inner reality, outwardly, she is really much, much happier. Thorin is the farrier who takes up the challenge of caring for the feet of several millions of dollars’ worth of top level competition horses. Dwalin is recently discharged honorably from military service battling PTSD and looking for work that won’t give him unbearable migraines and terrifying flashbacks.
Ori, Fili and Kili are all incredibly cute kids between the ages of 6 and 10.
This is a set of interrelated one-shots and small multi-chapter bits that isn’t a properly linear fic but is…. Something.
And at the end of the day it’s still about the guys (and gals) but mostly it’s about the horses.

Bilbo Baggins’ letter was different from all the others Thorin had received at that time.
First, Bilbo actually got his name right. Very little people cared to learn Thorin’s name those days, so most of his packages were sent as “to the blacksmith in the woods”. He used to have a name, a title and a kingdom. And then, after the dragon fire, all was left were ashes, a hunted kingless kingdom and the bitter taste of defeat.
Yet, somehow as if a miracle, there it was: “To Mister Thorin, Blacksmith from Erebor”.

The plan was simple - fool Chen, break his staff, put him in prison and enjoy another day in Ninjago as its heros. Where things went wrong? Kai still tries to lodge the cause in his mind. Maybe it was the betrayal, or the kidnapping. Perhaps the lack of communication, or really just his villainous side coming to life. Among many things and people nothing was certain for more than few days. But he had to keep moving.
Or a rewrite of s4 that blooms into a what-if Kai abandonded ninjas and instead became a vigilante. (In my mind, it's a long-shot)

After all, the fate of Middle-earth was never supposed to depend on a farrier with a pocket full of rocks and the self-preservation instincts of an orange cat.

Izuku’s life as a city boy was spiraling and not in a good way. After receiving a suspicious letter in the mail, a one-way boat fare – an urgency for his presence, he soon found out that he had inherited his grandfather’s homestead after his passing. Despite the hesitancy at first, Izuku decided to take the plunge, uprooted everything he knew, and moved to the small island town of Yuuei. After learning the ropes (kinda), meeting the townspeople (some welcoming, some not so much), hearing the rumors and lore (which he found to be a little morbid), he started to wonder what the hell he had signed himself up for. It also didn’t help that he kept running into the explosive blond, the Blacksmith’s prodigy (their relationship was rocky from the start – pun intended). It wasn’t noticeable at first, but when mysterious deaths started surfacing, and more frequently, they (Izuku and Katsuki) are forced to look into what might actually be happening. And the fact that it’s happening right under their noses, not realizing that one of them was falling victim themselves.

Blacksmiths were loud places. Thulla could hear in the clank of metal on metal or the roar of the furnace. They were noises she had learned to tune out, though every smithy had their own distinct sound. The one here didn’t sound like Grimforge, Ironhand or the cellar. The hammers were different, the alloy of the anvil had a distinct clang and even the architecture carried the sound differently.
A far too cheery “Hello!” broke her sound out of thoughts. Thulla sighed. Who was this chipper at seven in the morning? A halfling? She did not feel like dealing with ‘halfling hospitality’ right now
She looked up to see… a large figure with golden scales and curious orange eyes looking down at her.
