The confusion on Midoriya's face slowly bleeds into something like wonder. "Aizawa-sensei…" He ducks his head, tugging on his sleeves. "I… thank you. You fought so hard every time… but- but even that first time I just… I just knew I could trust you…"If Aizawa's eyes are stinging, that's nothing more than a bit of dust. "Thank you, Midoriya. That's very nice to hear."
Later, there will be time for talking about Midoriya's Quirk and discouraging him from relying on it. Aizawa can impress onto Midoriya the importance of not going looking for death if he fails at something and that he can't save everyone. He'll push Midoriya into therapy and punch All Might in the face when he finds out that All Might gave Midoriya his Quirk on the day of the entrance exam.
But at this moment, Midoriya is smiling, a weight gone from his shoulders, and that's good enough for right now.

"I wish I could remember how I did it." He shrugs again and takes another sip. It feels warm going down, just right. "It worked though."
"It wasn't something you knew before," Lan Zhan says. "You created it, cast it, and healed yourself. While you were half conscious."
"I know," Wei Wuxian says. "Imagine what I could do if I only set my mind to it." He offers Lan Zhan a half-grin as he repeats the words he'd heard time and again, year after year, from every instructor he'd ever had.
"Imagine," Lan Zhan says.
"It was a good hunt," Wei Wuxian says, only slurring a little, he's pretty sure. "We did a good job."
"You did, Wei-qianbei," Sizhui says breathlessly, from where he's propping him up.
"I have learned," Lan Zhan says, "that Wei-qianbei will put himself into harm's way to protect all others."
Wei Wuxian hears Sizhui take a breath.
Lan Zhan cuts him off before he can speak. "It's very difficult to get ahead of him," he says dryly. "I've tried."
Sizhui looks at him, then at Lan Zhan, then back at Wei Wuxian. "Wei-qianbei," he says slowly, like you might speak to an injured animal to calm it. "You defeated it."
"I defeated it?" Wei Wuxian must be woozier than he thought, if he's hearing things. "It bit me. It bit me with fire."
"Yes," Sizhui says. "And while it was, uh, attached to your leg, you cast a talisman that severed its head from its body."
