The last 15% of the book are just one shitty day in the life of Jean-Yves Moreau. He desperately needs more hugs. Jeremy would love to give them, but Jean is skittish. They will work on it.

This story follows Mario's life from basically birth to marriage. The ring piercing was the initial plotbunny that really sprung at me (not really asking for my consent, roaming around my mind at 1:30 in the morning...), the rest followed from there. Again, this is a story that has a protagonist who buys into the lies he's told, though there are moments where he doubts. His ama is an example of trying his best and still being stuck in an ugly situation. All Mario can hope for is that his fate will be better than overworked and ignored broodmare...
