“What the hell are you doing here? I thought you were off today.” Dana’s exclamation was all the warning Robby got before he spotted the familiar silhouette approaching out of the corner of his eye.
Her confusion was clearly shared by everyone around them. To their credit, it was understandable; seeing Abbot around in the light of day usually meant trouble.
Only this time, it was a different kind of trouble.
“I am.” Though his answer was directed at Dana, Jack’s eyes were fixed on Robby. “We need to talk.”
For a split second it seemed as if everything froze around them; the people, the machines, god, even the fucking air felt solid with his presence.Or
Robby does something stupid and Jack has to exercise 110% of his patience to not just strangle him right there and then.

Summary
Robby gripped the back of Dennis’s shirt like he feared he would float away. The touch was wild against Dennis’s senses. Every point of contact felt electric and all consuming. Robby’s pulse ran like a rabbit in his chest and Dennis could feel it like a live wire sending shocks throughout his body.
His mouth watered and the rawness returned to his gums. His fangs itched for something soft to tear into. His fingers pressed into Robby’s lower back as he exhaled against the old man’s chest. For the first time since he had been hit, the vampire felt no pain- only eagerness.
______________Whitaker dies on the job and Dr. Robby is perplexed when no one seems to remember. Even more so that, according to everyone, Dennis went home after his shift ended- alive and well…

“Come here, kid.” One of Robby’s hands catches Dennis’s and lands against his sternum, trapping his arm against his chest, while the other stays in his hair, fingers winding into damp curls. Dennis’s attention is everywhere and panicked. He catches a flash of Perlah readying the needle and a desperate sound punches out of him.
“Nope, don’t look at that,” Robby says, using the hand in his hair to force his head back, angling his vision away from the commotion and up towards him. Dennis’s eyes lock onto his, pupils blown wide. “Look at me. Yep, good. I’m right here. You’re doing so good, honey. Just keep those eyes on me.”
The IV tourniquet snaps into place and panic flashes anew in Dennis’s face. ”Robby—”
“I know. It’s just Dana and Perlah. We’re just pushing some fluids, no more drugs. You’re safe.” Out of the corner of his eye, Robby can see Perlah speeding through what has to be the fastest IV placement of her career, Dana keeping her grip on Dennis’s hand to stop him from jerking away. Dana shoots him a glance of warning and Robby tightens his hold. “Okay, quick poke now. Still just us. Deep breath, Dennis. I've got you."

As much as he'd like to pretend this isn't his problem, he's sure he's the only one who can help with this. The whole killing a werewolf thing. But, hey, he's retired. He isn't exactly a master of hunting, and he isn't sure he'd be able to protect himself against a werewolf, of all things.
A vampire would be different, but the brute force a werewolf holds? The thing would have him gutted in seconds. Tossed in the pile of lifeless bodies before he could even pull his gun out.

Summary
Jack smelled it as soon as he stepped outside. Metallic, clean, not human. Right at the edge of the field full of dead crops Robby hadn't bothered to burn yet, wide, glowing eyes watched Jack's every move. He slipped closer, sitting himself down in the snow and giving a low growl to the familiar figure in the snow.
Dennis gave him a crooked smile. He wore a thin sweater, the same jeans he was wearing the first time they met, and a distinct lack of shoes or socks. He looked pretty out here, snow complimenting his skin. He was too pale, even for winter. Jack could see his veins on his hands, but more distracting was the splatters of blood all over them.
"I know what you are," Dennis said. His voice was rougher now than it had been the first night. There were no humans here for him to pretend for.
Jack morphed himself back, gripping a knife in his pocket. It was silver. It burned his hand. He figured it would burn Dennis too, if he let it.

Summary
Before he could ask what he was talking about, one of Jack’s strong hands grabbed his face, thick fingers forcing his jaw to open. The other hand was on his chest, keeping him locked in place.
Robby pressed the knife into his forearm, red blood welling up at the wound immediately.
No, no. He did not want blood. The blood would make him what he didn’t want to be. It would confirm what he was trying to deny. It would confirm the sin that had taken root inside of him.
Dennis felt fangs sliding out of his gums, heavy and sharp. He started salivating, wanting to taste the blood, needing to taste it.

After a little slip-up while on the job, Dr. Robby becomes aware of Dennis's situation. He can't afford the expensive price tag that comes with blood bags, and he can't remember the last time he's had a proper meal. Who would Dr. Robby be if he didn't lend a hand to his favorite vampire? Besides, it benefits both of them in more ways than one.
He stumbles into Dr. Robby's house, drained and painfully desperate for a meal after a long shift. Instead of Dr. Robby waiting for him, he finds Dr. Jack Abbot.

Summary
Waking up is groggy for Robby, both him and his husband’s sleep have been intermittent since the day they brought her home. That’s what happens when you take in a newborn, not only that, but taking in a newborn without being more than a week prepared for it. Thankfully they did have a few days to prepare while she was in holding at the hospital, but it still wasn’t a lot compared to the months most parents normally have.
Robby’s Dennis’ sense is tingling, whispering to him that something is not right in the dead of night. The spot next to him that is usually so warm is cold and their new baby who would wake them with cries is silent.

For Hucklerobby Week 2025/2026 Day 5 "Hand"/"Just this once"
Robby was convinced by Dana and Jack to go out drinking with younger Doctors after a rather tough shift and big milestones in their careers. Everyone is drunk and touchy, especially Dennis Whitaker who just won't stop leaning into his space and now said; “I never noticed how big your hands are.”

Their vacation was much shorter than either man really wanted, Robby was only able to get so much time off and Dennis would prefer to not be away from home for longer than needed. That being said they enjoyed their extended weekend stay at the fancy Florida Resort they went to for their second anniversary. The sun was warm and the breeze was cool, drinks were flowing with no end in sight and best of all, neither of them had responsibilities.
