Will felt his anxiety suppress, the adrenaline began to slow its pump and he further relaxed into Hannibal’s hands. He leant forward, throwing his weight so his chin landed on the other man’s shoulder. Hannibal’s strong arms wrapped around him, holding him up off the ground as his knees buckled.
“I’ve got your best interests at heart, Will. It’s when you stray from me we lead to complications.”
“I trust you,” Will replied.
He most certainly did not.
_______After Will gets out of prison he promises Jack he’ll catch Hannibal. Hannibal, on the other hand, is trying to create his own plaything. He’s sure he can train Will.

Summary
Will finds it terrifying that his everything has been built and crafted for the sake of someone else. It is with great relief, however, that he finds this person—his soulmate—to be a kind person (a kind person whom he thinks he can, one day, even love).
Hannibal, on the other hand, takes this as an insult.
In other words: Hannibal and Will are not soulmates. Hannibal finds this intolerable and, to be frank, rude, but he is nothing if not cunning. Consequently, Will faces the repercussions of something that isn’t really his fault (as always).

Will is a vampire hunter, with the ability to resist vampire compulsions. Which is why, when he starts to feel drawn to Hannibal Lecter, he knows that the feeling is unmistakably, undeniably, real. Before he knows it, he is wrapped up in Hannibal's desire, unable and unwanting to escape, leaving behind the entire life he knew just so he can feel his fangs pierce his skin again and again.

Will gritted his teeth, grinding them against another, as he fought. After what felt like an eternity, his hand breached the ground, touching cold, humid air. His fingers scrambled against the grass, gripping at the blades to pull himself out.
He summoned strength he barely had to force himself out of his tomb, throwing himself into the moonlight. Will’s hands clawed at his eyes, brushing off crusted dirt.
He looked up, with new-born eyes, and saw the devil.
