In other words, the CRT you take off Kris's hands after they knocked on your door one morning asking if you wanted it ends up courting you in the most horror-esque ways possible: channel changes to communicate with you, staticky name whispering when he craves your attention, and shadowy manifestations unbound after an altruistic fluffy goat boy nearly convinced him that “all” Darkners grow “obsolete” eventually. I didn't give the characters "normal names," sorry, but you'll have to get used to it.
The vibe is 80s, although there's no set time period in the story.
