After a couple of months wandering aimlessly around the outskirts of Mondstadt, Aether somehow ends up passed out at the cities gates. After recovering from that whole ordeal, Aether is allowed to become a "Knight in Training" where he does his absolute best to be good at his job. Aether is definitely not the best at his job. Between his stupidly attractive overseer Kaeya, and his general incompetence, Aether isn't sure how he hasn't died yet.

The wind around him echoes voices that he can’t quite make out. He feels like he should be doing something. He needed to get something. Or maybe, someone. Why can’t he remember?
He is helpless, suspended in this gray plane, distant thunder rumbling both above and below.He turns, something pricking the hairs at the back of his neck and is greeted by a hand on his shoulder. Turning to them, he tries to find the source. Somebody had their hand on his shoulder. Who was it? What did they want?
The woman gripping his shoulder was talking to him. But he couldn’t hear the words.
The whispering around him was reaching a fever pitch before the sudden cutoff. Aether was left in the violently silent void, staring into the grayness and feeling as if he was being watched back.
Forcing his breaths through his nose and rolling his shoulders once, then twice, he reeled himself back in. There was something he had to do. She was counting on him.
He just had to remember what.
____AU where after fighting the unknown god and losing, she curses Aether and friends to be stuck in an altered time line, with no memories of who they were before. Little did she know, someone threw in a backdoor.

Now that was a very odd question. Xiao turned towards the other boy and it was through a careful study of his face did Xiao really see it. He was so used to the bright shining smile on Aether’s face that he missed the dark circles under his eyes. He hasn’t been sleeping.
“Is there something wrong?” Xiao chose his words carefully. He’s not really used to conversation. His interactions with Aether are more of him listening to the other boy’s adventures for the day.

“Aether?” Her voice was muffled and croaky from sleep because of course it would be. She was on the other side of Teyvat, no doubt trying to get some much needed shut eye after a long day of filming and here he was, being a selfish asshole and ruining that for her.
“Lumine I—“ He choked back a sob. “You know how Ma used to tell us we’ll get cavities if we eat too much sugar?”
There was a long moment of silence, and then a sharp intake of breath on the other end of the line.
“Have you?” Lumine asked, suddenly sounding way more alert than when she picked up the phone. He could tell she was already fearing the worst. Out of all their little codes and riddles, he’d only ever used this one once, back when he was a trainee and hiding his very many blemishes and inadequacies wasn’t nearly as difficult as it was now. “Gotten any cavities, I mean.”
He was glad he never had to hide anything from Lumine.
“Not yet but,” he sniffled. “All those sweet treats we get sent by our fans are bound to add up at some point, right?”

Momota wonders how someone like Ouma Kokichi ended up with healing powers.
His fingers travel down the length of Momota’s arm, working their magic, purple sparkles dancing at his fingertips, and Momota hisses at the foreign sensation when he brushes against the fresh wound, blood still dripping slowly and pooling on the ground under their feet.
It’s disconcerting to see Ouma so focused, his face perfectly blank and brows furrowed slightly, eyes fixed on the knife still sticking out of Momota’s arm, bright and alert as he reaches with his other hand to grasp the handle. His eyes flicker to Momota’s face momentarily, as if making sure that he’s still with him, and Momota sucks in a sharp breath through his tightly clenched teeth, bracing himself for the mind pain that’s bound to come.

Momota and Harukawa look at him with alarm, and Saihara trips over his own tongue when he opens his mouth to explain. The longer they stare, the more Saihara’s face warms. He knows he should tell them what’s happening. It isn’t as though he’s getting better. The pain worsens as the days pass, and since Hoshi and Toujou died, there hasn’t been a day that he hasn’t woken up coughing. Their gazes weigh a thousand million pounds, though, and Saihara can barely breathe with all the pressure.
It doesn’t matter, I would only be bothering them if I told them, Saihara thinks bitterly. Momota-kun has helped me enough. Besides, I can deal with it on my own. The sound is deafening enough to block out his own heartbeat; he can hardly comprehend rational thought.
