"Stay with me, Leon," Chris says loudly, nudging Leon's head where it's fallen to rest against the juncture of their shoulders. "We're gonna make it out, but I need you to stay awake with me."
He sounds grim. That's never a good sign, but Leon's focusing too much on the jelly his knees have turned into to give it much thought. Ashley slumps to the side, unconscious, and Luis feels relief as the computer chimes pleasantly, confirming the absence of the parasite. He glances up at Leon, who looks between Luis and Ashley with a faint smile of boyish triumph that Luis can’t help but find endearing.
A split-second later, Leon’s eyes roll up into his head and he collapses, the Kevlar of his vest clicking against the metal grating.

It's not clear how conscious his actions are so we will proceed with caution and monitor activities carefully. Desmond’s head snapped up and his gaze immediately went to Achilles Davenport, who was still sitting on Desmond’s cot in the corner. Although, this time, his eyes were on Desmond. Achilles tilted his head slightly, seeming amused by Desmond’s gobsmacked expression. “W-What…”
“I said, you are not alright,” Achilles hummed, fiddling with his cane. “Lie to others about your condition if you must. But remember one thing, boy, you cannot lie to yourself.”
Before Desmond could say anything else, the elder was gone, disappearing into the recesses of his own mind. But Desmond honestly couldn't tell if Achilles had been talking to Connor...
...or to him.
The mission to rescue Desmond from Abstergo in ACII fails, and he is instead made a prisoner and slowly loses his mind to the Bleeding Effect, only to be saved by some unlikely heroes.

Desmond’s head comes up from between his knees. His lips are chapped and torn, his old scar lost amongst the fresh red. His eyes are red, too, bloodshot with tears both fresh and dried, and his face is streaked with the same, cheeks puffy. He opens his mouth, as if he is going to speak. Takes in a breath, sharp as he inhales and shaky as he exhales.
