Mario doesn't get what happened to his little brother. Correction, yes he does, Bowser did! Mario won't let his little brother be brainwashed by that giant fire breathing turtle, mark his words!
In other words: Old promises, messy conversations (not those kind) and a refusal to listen lead to an explosive time with the Mario Brothers. Everyone else just happens to get caught in the cross hairs.

Batman, no Bruce should be used to the end of the world by now. It’s certainly happened enough times to not be as terrifyingly concerning as the first time it happened, but this just seems to be a new way to tell the same story. He honestly wishes it was just his usual nonsense though.
Clark thinks of himself as a pretty chill guy, not someone easily rattled. He only harms someone if his hand is forced and he certainly never thinks of killing anyone. . . but if he gets out of this without murdering Bruce? It’ll be nothing short of a miracle and he doesn’t believe in those much anymore.

“Oh sure,” Sam responds after a long pause. “Here you go. Sweetie.”
“Thanks, hon, you’re a real doll,” Bucky drawls, and pours himself another bowl of cereal, tops up his coffee, takes a mouthful of milk straight from the carton just for good measure. Sam narrows his eyes.
“That’s disgusting,” he sighs, and Bucky makes deliberate eye contact, swallows another mouthful. Sam holds his gaze. “Cupcake, come on, I gotta drink that shit, stop putting your mouth all over it.”
“I’ll put my mouth all over wherever I want,” Bucky tells him. “Sweetheart.”
“Will you just,” Sam mutters, and sips his black coffee like he’s totally unruffled, and Bucky is startled to discover that he’s the one who’s blushing. Shit. Maybe this was a tactical error.
