Queenie regained her composure and finally came out with an explanation: “Honey, this is called menstruation.”
Oh no. There was a word for it.
“It’s just something that your body does, all women do it.”
That was even worse.
Queenie dunked the dirty undies in the sink and filled it up with water. “Your womb is just cleaning itself out. Every month, your uterus flushes out all the blood and veins from the lining to clean itself. It’s what happens to girls during puberty and when they’re women.”
Pomni’s face grew even more dismayed. “It does that every month?”

Summary
Pomni was an adult. She was fine. She could take care of herself and didn't need anyone. Even if she did want to be held... even if she did want to let herself go for just a moment ...even if someone took the weight off her shoulders and said 'I got you.' She definitely didn't expect it from someone like Kinger, but hey, she didn't find herself complaining.
