Adrien has had a crush on Marinette ever since he laid eyes on her, on his first day at school.
Marinette isn't looking for romance, but feels an undeniable pull between her and Adrien. When they both become captains of the guys' and girls' soccer teams respectively, things get interesting between them.
In other words, High School AU w/ no miraculous. Marinette & Adrien’s personalities are a mix between their civilian and superhero selves on the show. Various cannon elements are still present.

He shouldn't be hesitating when a chance of a life time presented itself to him. He should not be looking for excuses and reasonings as to why spending another twenty or so years fighting this woman rather than pleasing his father and giving his mother another chance at life was not such a bad idea after all.

Summary
The thought came across in a familiar growl of frustration: Do something.
His feet were moving before he had fully formed a plan. Putting a hand up to call off the gunman, he ran towards her, arms wide open.
“Sweetheart!” he flinched at Marinette’s look of uncertainty.
This is going to be uncomfortable.Less uncomfortable than a bullet wound. Chat’s voice echoed again in his mind.
As he neared her, she froze. For a moment, he feared that she would back away from him. Please don’t freak out.
Reaching for her, he pulled her close enough to whisper into her ear, “Marinette, whatever happens next, I need you to please.. PLEASE play along. I need you to trust me. For both of us.”
As he pulled back from her, he saw her attempt to smooth the look of confusion from her face. She understood. Thank God.“I wasn’t expecting you so soon!” he spoke a little too loudly, clearly for the audience. He cringed inwardly and tried to calm his nerves.
Act better.Before Marinette had a chance to respond, he reached a hand up to the side of her face, holding her still as he pressed his mouth to hers.

Marinette froze, – eyes wide open in horror, – staring in her enemies eyes that only sparkled in surprise.
He slowly took the last step separating them and leaned towards her face, – one hand resting on the wall behind her. “I could be your worst enemy.” He said softly, as if he was offering her the sweetest dessert instead of threatening to ruin her life. “I could be the best ally you could wish for.” He continued, leaning a little closer so that the distance between their faces was significantly reduced. “I could even be your personal Adrien Agreste, little ‘I-love-you’-fangirl…”
Suddenly, a lilac glow flared around Argos, and Felix Fathom was standing in front of her, looming over her and pressing close to her face. “But what I WILL be, is your man.”
