Summary
There's something to be said about how every kingdom sounds a bit different, each monarch heralding some new addition to the chorus of the world and the thrum of the void below.
More accurately, there's something to be said about how, sometimes, it's a bit more literal than others.
Red isn't a musician. Surely ve’s seen an instrument, even held one, but that was never ver domain. Not much time for learning to play when you’re busy killing. Kill or be killed, they say, but there's no play or be played alternative.
So, it slipped by the wayside for Red, intentionally or not. But for Anathra, it was like he'd never lived a day without it.

Summary
918 took a breath, scrubbed at his eyes, and then bounced on his heels for a moment, tail lashing. “Can I-” He cut himself off. Hesitated. “Before, you hugged me and it…”
222 took a step towards him, giving him a moment to lean away if this hadn't actually been what he wanted, but not expecting the hundred something pounds of 918 that slammed into him, briefly unbalancing him.
He wrapped his arms around the clone, tucking 918's head under his chin.
“Any time. Anything you need, we're here for you.”
918 let out a shaky breath. He didn't respond, but his grip on 222 tightened, like he was afraid of him leaving.
That, 222 had already decided, wasn't going to happen. 918 would have anything 222 could offer him for as long as he wanted it.
--
Or: 918's got a lot of trauma from canon. 222 tries to help. Things get better, slowly.

Summary
“Okay.”
“Man, you can't just say okay, I'm kind of having an existential crisis over here!”
“No, it's- look, it's fine. I believe you.”
“Just like that?” Mig almost didn't mean to say it out loud.
“Just like that.” Legundo's voice was steady, carefully gentle. “You're my island partner, and, besides, you're a terrible liar. So, either what happened to you was real, or it felt real. Now, let's make a plan.”
Mig let out a shaky exhale, slumping a little against Legundo's side. An arm came to curl around him as he did.
--
Or: 918 tells Legundo about everything that's been happening. They do some things about it

Summary
The moment they popped into the book, Deacon felt three pairs of eyes land on him. Buddy started somewhere else, but Prunella, Chase, and Wave all glanced him over with varying levels of confusion, leaving Deacon’s face to heat uncomfortably.
“Nice dress,” Prunella commented, looking relatively unphased as she glanced down at her own outfit. “Mine is better.”
Wave raised an eyebrow. “Damn, man, your key mad at you?”
“U-um, something like that,” Deacon mumbled, guilt blooming through him at the sympathetic look he received, “Let’s just… get on with the story.”

Summary
“Jude Perry.” It wasn't a greeting. Far too icy for that.
“I'm afraid I don't know who you are.” Jude gave her a sidelong glance, some blend of curiosity, irritation, and amusement darting across her face.
“Georgie. Georgie Barker, I'm Jon’s friend.”
Jude raised an eyebrow. “What, seriously? The Archivist already sending his minions after me? All because I asked him to shake my hand?”
Georgie glowered. “Not quite.” The words were crisp, and she managed to keep most of the bitterness out of them. “But something’s happened to him, and I'm going to get him back.”
Another dubious look. “Are you."

Summary
Usually, Legundo works with people running away, and majority of this group are older teenagers who can’t ride a car and don’t prefer an alternative of dying in an accident.
It’s usually NOT adults who ask him to drive their ten year old kid with a disorder to another side of the country.God, it’s above his pay grade.
Or; on trying to not be a total jerk to a kid, projecting and running away, and understanding that you are not alone in your skull.

Summary
Deception has gotten the best of Miles Morales for a good couple years now. Its tracked him down and resurfaced like weeds between his feet at every moment he’d least expected it. He’ll admit, he has a long way to go when it comes to knowing who to trust and who might be secretly trying to kill you and/or lie to you about your very existence.
But hey, everybody’s gotta learn somewhere right?
(or,
Miles Morales, recently landed in Earth 42, has had enough of everyone’s shit and he’s going to save his dad or so help him he’ll lose his mind.
Miles Morales 42, just wants to know what the /hell/ is up with his doppelgänger.)

Summary
An academic essay on the concept of layered "fourth walls" as a part of the nature of MCYT, primarily focusing on three case studies of interesting interactions with this metanarrative aspect of the medium -- the Librarian's From The Fog series, Kenadian's Wifies Debunk, and Legundo's 100 Days Multiverse.
Originally written as part of the MCYT Meta Zine -- I highly recommend checking out the zine in its original form as well, as it comes with some really stunning illustrations!

"You're not doing this to make me look like an idiot, are you?"
"You of all people should know that this show means more to me than any silly prank," Hermie answers, almost sounding offended. He probably deserves that. "And I wouldn't - I wouldn't do that to you."
or
the one where hermie asks normal to audition for the spring musical, and normal has to face his fears about his future, his feelings, and his father's expectations. maybe not in that order.Bookmarked by SparrowAce
