Jinu has been Gwi-Ma's slave for centuries.
A pet, equally tortured and prized. He doubted he'd ever be let out of his cage.
Until the day he finds himself offered up as a gift—tribute, bribe, trap—to the demon lord's heir, a Hunter-raised half-blood demon called Rumi who hates him and what he represents on-sight. He half-expects her to send him back to the Underworld in pieces.
Rumi sees his presence as a death sentence for her. It's becoming hard enough to hide her patterns from Mira and Zoe. How is she supposed to hide a demon-gift sent by the demon lord of the Underworld?
He's clearly a trap, one that leaves her with no good choices. Every subsequent decision seems to magnify her patterns and drag her deeper into her demon heritage.
What to do? Hide him? Kill him? Contain him? Or...help him?
Could a demon with no feelings really deserve her help? Or is there more to it than she's been led to believe? And is trying to find out really worth the risk to Rumi, her friends, and the Honmoon?

Summary
A few weeks before the Flower Dance, the farmer contracts a mild case of hanahaki in the mines. The cure is straightforward: Painkillers, as needed, and an honest heart-to-heart chat with Sebastian about the big embarrassing crush she's been trying to ignore for several months now. But the idea of losing his friendship is way scarier than pneumonia is, so she decides to try getting over it on her own with secondhand talk therapy and avoidance, instead.
This is a great idea. Nothing can possibly go wrong.

Summary
The markings were a part of her that made Rumi feel ugly, a disgust so palpable when she saw them that she could feel the bile clawing up her throat. The idol shoved her sleeves down whenever she got them, the shame overwhelming her.
They made everything about the half demon wrong, a mistake she would have to cover up until they disappeared when golden filled the sky.
That is until she met Jinu.
